Aloha, I am the Executive Director of Imua Family Services. Imua Family provides clinical and educational services and programs to children with Special Needs, Disabilities and Developmental Delays in Maui, Lanai and Molokai islands in Hawaii. I started this personal blog on my own journey as a new father when my son was born in 2011. My own father was an immigrant from China in 1911, he was born in 1900 and died in 1992 at 92 years of age, long before my son was born. In my blog I am connecting my relationship to my son and my relationship to my father, and myself as the bridge.

When toddlers cry. I remember crying as a small child and my father say "What are you crying for? I'll give you something to cry about!" I learned a lot about crying from my son in those early years, and I got some sage advice along the way.

The Beginning
This is the first blog I wrote in this series, with every blog you will see how my parenting is influenced by my father and the circumstances in the times we live today. This is not an instruction book to parenting, I don't claim be be an expert, I am just figuring it out as I go along, and doing my best.
