Michael began working at the Advanced Energy motors and drives laboratory in 2010 as a Co-Op student and continued as a full-time engineer after that. With extensive testing experience in the lab, Michael moved into a Laboratory Director role in 2019. He is involved in motor system testing development, research and training on a wide range of applications to meet the needs of Advanced Energy's customers. Michael is also a member of the Advanced Energy Commercial and Industrial team, participating in energy assessments and recommending energy conservation measures at facilities across the Southeast. Michael received his Bachelor's degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from North Carolina State University.

In this topic we will discuss the use and utility of MEM’s sensors for vibration analysis. We will compare attributes of legacy Piezo electric sensors vs MEM’s including how each works, and strengths & weakness of each. In my experience, there are three major influences on culture:
Individual team members – Do they work together? Do they feel their voice is heard? Do they enjoy going to work every day?Supervision / management – Do they have an open door policy? Do they listen to employees? Are they willing to take acceptable risks with new ideas?Corporate – Are they driven by only the bottom line? Do they provide too much oversight?
Easy efforts to improve the culture positively include ensuring that corporate, plant, department goals are clear, posted and understood, that communication occurs frequently at all levels, and that appropriate personnel are involved at the right level for decision making.
