Constructal Law, Society, Economics, and Strategy with Adrian Bejan
I've been talking about "Forces" of Business Transformation for many years. The ebbs and flows of business, technology, consumer sentiment, and other factors keep us busy leading our companies to the next wave to surf. Most people looked at me and asked "What do you mean 'Forces'?" Well, I recently discovered Professor Adrian Bejan earlier this year and couldn't be more excited to find someone else who speaks much more fluently that I about this fascinating subject called Constructal Law! And I'm very humbled that he gladly joined me on this podcast! More to come as I integrate his work in to mine!
Adrian Bejan (MIT, 1971, 1972, 1975) is an American professor and discoverer of the constructal law of design evolution in nature. He is J. A. Jones Distinguished Professor at Duke University. Secrets of High-Performance Teams in a Remote-Work Environment with Bernie Spang
Many forces and pressures have been building and creating a desire for remote work, which is the topic of today’s episode. When you have a culture of mutual respect, trust, a clear and simple strategy, and outcome-based work, it doesn’t matter if your workforce is co-located or distributed around the globe. A culture that celebrates the remote workforce opens itself to a greater pool of top talent which could greatly improve the profitability of the company.
When I was thinking about who to interview for this podcast, I couldn’t think of a better person than Bernie Spang, who I worked for on a remote team for a little over 2 years at the turn of the century. Bernie ran the WebSphere Studio Tools Marketing team that was part of the WebSphere Middleware Marketing team that was a part of the IBM Software Group. He currently is Program Director, Watson AI-powered virtual assistants, IBM. -
