Illuminating Music Art of Élan

Avner Dorman had too many ideas as he began writing a new piece for the Myriad Trio in 2017 and then decided to create a theme and variations which shows off his virtuosity of composition and the virtuosity of the performers. Diego got his start in composing with the Art of Élan Young Artists in Harmony program. He quickly found a love of composing and in 3 short years developed a repertoire of eclectic and vibrant music. British composer David Bruce is no stranger to San Diego, where he has had multiple world premiere performances in recent years. This 8 player mixed chamber ensemble highlights the sights and sounds of an anachronistic time period where steam powered technology meets the Victorian era.

Art of Élan is honored to commission a 2nd work by violist and composer Lev 'Ljova' Zhurbin. We'll hear about his father's compositions, the background into Ljova's eclectic style, and upcoming projects. Ljova used to dislike the sound of the clarinet, but now loves the sound of the instrument so much as to write this incredible work.
