Solo Podcast on my journey to 500 days with out the bottle!

Solo Podcast Episode Description: "500 Days Without the Bottle - My Journey"

    In the Shed with Ryan

In this powerful solo episode, join me, Ryan, as I take you on an intimate journey through my battle with alcohol addiction and the incredible milestone of reaching 500 days of sobriety. This episode of "In the Shed with Ryan" delves deep into the personal struggles, societal pressures, and transformative moments that have shaped my path to recovery.

I open up about my younger years when drinking was a daily ritual that often led to dangerous and destructive behavior. From multiple arrests to days spent in a drunken haze without eating, my life was spiraling out of control. Society often normalizes excessive drinking, but behind the facade, it causes severe physical and mental health issues.

    Facts About Alcohol:

Health Impacts: Chronic alcohol use can cause liver disease, cardiovascular problems, and increase the risk of cancers such as liver, mouth, and breast cancer. In 2023, alcohol-related incidents resulted in approximately 3 million deaths globally (World Health Organization (WHO)) (World Health Organization (WHO)).
Mental Health: Alcohol exacerbates depression and anxiety and leads to significant mental health consequences. It is highly addictive and often results in dependency, cognitive impairment, and brain damage (World Health Organization (WHO)) (World Health Organization (WHO)).
Social Consequences: Alcohol misuse contributes to violence, accidents, and legal issues. It can severely impact personal relationships and professional life, leading to job loss and financial problems (World Health Organization (WHO)) (World Health Organization (WHO)).

The turning point came when I realized I couldn't continue living this way. I share the steps I took to get sober, from seeking help to building a support network. Therapy played a crucial role in my recovery, providing the tools and support needed to stay on track.

    Comparison with Crack Cocaine:

Crack Cocaine: This highly addictive substance causes severe health issues, including heart attacks and respiratory failure. It has a high potential for addiction and leads to significant mental health problems such as paranoia and hallucinations. While alcohol is legal and widely used, crack cocaine's illegal status and potent effects make its consequences even more severe (Homepage – IARC) (Cancer Info Hub).

Therapy has been a cornerstone of my recovery, and I want to help you access the same support. BetterHelp has been instrumental in connecting me with a therapist who truly understands my struggles.
