    EPISODE OVERVIEW:
Today, we're tackling a topic that's gained significant popularity in the last 3 decades: Love Languages.

Many of us have heard about love languages in the context of adult relationships, but should we apply the same principles when it comes to our children?

In this episode, we'll explore why I choose not to use love languages with my kids

    And what I do instead!

Why Love Languages Might Not Apply to Kids:
Love languages, as popularised by Dr. Gary Chapman, categorise how individuals prefer to give and receive love: Words of Affirmation, Acts of Service, Receiving Gifts, Quality Time, and Physical Touch.

    Children's Developmental Stage:
One key reason I don't use love languages with my kids is because they're still developing their sense of self and emotional understanding.

Unlike adults, children's preferences and needs can fluctuate rapidly as they grow and explore the world around them.

Applying rigid love language categories to them may limit our understanding of their unique emotional expressions.

    Fluidity of Love and Connection:
Another factor to consider is the fluid nature of love and connection in parent-child relationships. Love is multifaceted and dynamic, often expressed in ways that transcend predefined categories.

By pigeonholing our interactions with our kids into specific love languages, we risk overlooking the richness and spontaneity of the parent-child bond.

    What’s my Alternative?:
Instead of relying on love languages, I advocate for a more holistic and intuitive approach to expressing love to our children. This involves actively listening to our children, observing their cues, and responding with empathy and authenticity. By attuning ourselves to their individual needs and preferences, we can nurture a deep sense of trust and connection that transcends any predefined framework.
