In this cross collaboration episode, Raw Talks teams up with another Ottawa-based podcast called Talk Lab. Both hosts, Angie V and Ahmed, find common ground in their interest of hearing about people's life experiences and how these life experiences carry wisdom and deep learning. Discussion evolves around the idea of culture, ethnicity, and identity politics and how each host has had a variety of similar and contrasting experiences with their identity within Ontario. The episode also touches on the current reality of content creation and podcast production and how each host has developed their process for these.

This episode dives into the topic of generational trauma as an individual, first-person based experience, relating to the history of our grandparents and parents directly. Angie V discusses how the lives of our preceding generations can greatly affect our own life, specifically when it involves unresolved traumas and unhealed wounds. As a result, we may discover defence mechanisms and coping tactics within ourselves that can end up hindering our full experience of life. Not to mention, generational trauma can affect future generations (your kids) if left unattended. This episode encourages listeners to abandon blame and incite curiosity, in hopes of living genuine self-realization.

There's no better time to release this episode! Recorded back in April, I was able to interview a close friend and muse from overseas. Verity Lo, who I met while on exchange in Australia, is a creative of all sorts specializing in dance & video production. She was one of the main motivators behind Raw Talk, so its only fitting to celebrate our 1 Year Anniversary with her. Listen in on our discussions surrounding creating & pursuing your own definition of success, including dismantling pre-conditioned beliefs and other peoples' definition of success, and finding comfort in success. We confront moments of privilege awareness, the idea of growing apart from friends, and the necessity of selfishness. This talk will eventually have you reflecting on the importance of identity recognition, learning what it takes to connect with others beyond common interests, and recognizing the difference between who you desire to be and who you actually are.
