Everyone talks about building reading habits in children. That is a good thing . However I also encourage you as a parent of a child to reflect on THE BIG WHY. Why would you want to read to your child ? Is it just to develop literacy skills including vocabulary and reading fluency ? Is it to absorb school content easily ? Or do you have a bigger vision ?

We juggle all these roles . But above all we are individuals first with our own likes and dislikes. On this day I would suggest that you take a pause and appreciate yourself .
