Sauerkraut and Smoked Sausage
We are back with another recipe that is sure to be a hit, especially here in the winter. This is a great dish for leftovers, and it very easy to make. The good thing about this is, instead of making new sauerkraut, we are just improving on the stuff from a store, which is MUCH easier. But with that, lets get cooking!
Ingredients
3 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 yellow onion
1 large apple (preferably crisp and sweet)
1 teaspoon sugar
4 cups sauerkraut
salt and pepper
1.5 cups water
1 tsp juniper berries (optional)
Smoked sausage (bratwurst, kielbasa, ex)
If you want something to eat with it, you can make a mustard sauce with
1/2 cup stone ground mustard
1/4 cup sour cream -
