Mek We Coffee n Reason is an interview format podcast that utilises real life experiences to navigate the adolescent mind to deal with adversities. All while educating parents and guardians on the struggles adolescents face, so they can play their part in creating a more mindful and nurturing environment for their children.

We aim to create a mentally safe space for them, for them to know that someone understands what they are going through, and they are not alone. Hosts: Tamra Douglas-Atkinson, Takiece Nelson, and Zavaughna James

In this episode, Tanecia Nelson-Mills shared with us the battle she faced between Self Love and Self Awareness. For the better part of Tanecia's teenage years, she struggled with accepting her physical features. Tanecia was constantly reminded of her flaws and because of that she struggled with accepting herself.
However, Tanecia found the meaning of true beauty when she discovered the beauty of inner self, and the beauty of a relationship with Christ.
Tanecia reminded us of the importance of setting healthy boundaries amongst our friend group to ensure the emotional safety of everyone, and the importance of seeing that you are enough.

    February 2024 Newsletter Review
In this episode were did a brief overview of the newsletter. Here are the main take aways:
Many times it is difficult for us to pinpoint the exact reason why we are stressed, which makes it difficult to manage or cope.
If we know what our normal bodily reactions are to different circumstances, it becomes easier to identify when our 'abnormal' isn't 'normal'.
It is important for us to be mindful of how we take care of our body while we are stressed. Unhealthy habits form when w have a stressed heart, and those very actions can be precursors to various heart diseases; such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, obesity, type 2 diabetes.

    FOOD FOR THOUGHT:
"Failure to take care of your heart can lead to heart failure." - Zavaughna James
"Your heart is your responsibility, so take care of it." - Nurse Douglas-Atkinson

    |Brewing Resilience and Sipping Strength, One Cup at a Time

    Guest: Jordan Simpson
    Host: Tamra Douglas-Atkinson, Zavaughna James
Jordan Simpson is no stranger to adversity, and has always been a resilient person - even in the midst of adversity.
Jordan Simpson is a Diskjoc, Graphic Designer, and Music Producer. In this episode, Mr. Simpson shared with us his love of being a DJ and how he had to navigate peer pressure, anxiety, stigma, staying consistent, and navigating his moral compass as he found his footing in the musical industry.
For Jordan, having a moral compass as a child was vital to become the individual that he is now. He shares with us just how someone without a moral guide at home, can find someone in the broader society to emulate. He is a big believe in maintaining your 'why', and not losing sight of who you are in the face of the public.
