Research Simplifed: Episode 2: Functional Training (Part 1)

Today we discuss Functional Training, a somewhat new focus in the field of exercise science that is the product of many different concepts in exercise science and motor development. We take a brief look into the basic definition of Functional Training and some of the key concepts that are central to this much broader modality. The research we discuss today is from The Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research (May 2005), and looks at the difference between olympic lifting protocols and plyometric protocols in the development of skills like the vertical jump, 10m sprint, and more.
