This includes new propaganda programs in China, and new pushes on the diplomatic stage where it seems the CCP is trying to win new support among Muslim countries. Yet, behind the scenes, the CCP has continued its brutal human rights abuses of Muslims, and its diplomatic push is already running into problems. The fate of Hong Kong is becoming a focal point in the United Kingdom, where a British judge, who recently resigned from Hong Kong’s highest court, said the former British colony is becoming a totalitarian state under the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). The criticisms focus on the recent conviction of 14 political dissidents by CCP authorities, and come in the wake of recent CCP suppression in Hong Kong about discussions on the history of the Tiananmen Square massacre. The CCP controls several territories where it employs additional abusive policies as a way to maintain its authority, including in Xinjiang and Tibet. And the question is now growing regarding whether Hong Kong could also find itself under similar policies. We discuss in this episode of Crossroads.

The main espionage agency of the Chinese Communist Party has released a propaganda video on a new state program—essentially attempting to enlist every one of China’s citizens into the role of spies, from co-workers to kids, to the old lady down the street. Alongside this, the CCP has also been rolling out other programs, including one that forms militias among Chinese companies, and another for the military training of school children. The United States has developed a strategy to disrupt China’s communist regime if it tries to take Taiwan by force. This is now being described as a “Hellscape” strategy, and one that would involve classified capabilities as well as thousands of unmanned vehicles—including drones, submarines, and surface craft. Its aim would be to delay the CCP long enough for the United States and its allies to arrive, and could drag the Chinese regime into a drawn-out war similar to what Russia now finds itself fighting in Ukraine.
