The Mysterious Murders of Janine Johnson and Steven Taylor in Ferris, Tx.

The Mysterious Murders of Janine Johnson and Steven Taylor in Ferris, Tx.

Janine Lynn Johnson from South Grand Prairie and Steven Glenn Taylor from McKinney, Tx end up starting a life together in the small Ellis County town of Ferris, Tx. A quiet little town next to Dallas County and near Interstate 45. Janine had a son at age 17 and married the father the next year in 1997. Unfortunately, they would divorce in 1998. By the age of 28 Janine would marry and divorce 3 more times. Janine was a caring person and kept in touch with all her ex-husbands. Then, she met Steven Glenn Taylor. Steven originally from McKinney, Tx had lived in Lancaster, Tx for a while then moved south to Ferris. I am told He established himself in the community and was there before Janine. Janine moved in with Steven on South Church street where Janine finally got some stability in her life. Her son said she actually had Christmas at their house in 2008 where she hosted for the first time. Her son said he could tell she was happy. In late March of 2009 Janine and Steven had been part of a softball tournament. They played a game then were suppose to come back the next day for a second game. They never showed up. Steven’s brother, Robert, became worried with no answering of phone calls and goes to their house at South Church street in Ferris. Family and friends can not get Steve or Janine’s attention at the house and the doors are locked. Both of their vehicles are parked at the house. Ferris Pd are summoned and entry is made into the house to find ,in the words of JOP Jackie Miller Jr, “The most gruesome murder scene.” Evidence in the murders boggles the mind.

Another horrific strangulation would happen in early 1922 but the woman was white. Effie May Roecker a Caucasian 44 year old divorcee was living with two of her adult sons in Kansas City on Grauman street. The oldest son, Clarence, had just honorably discharged from the army and was working as railroad mechanic. Effie enjoyed walking and visiting friends and family. Part 2: The Unsolved Murder of Jennifer Kinder-Smiles-What the neighbors said.

Part 2: The Unsolved Murder of Jennifer Kinder-Smiles-What the neighbors said.

Information from Police interviews with neighbors of Jennifer Kinder-Smiles. What they heard or saw if anything on the night of the murder Also, what they saw going on at 103 Cumberland road over the two years Jennifer and her family lived there. Note: these are the best people can remember and may have gotten times and dates mixed up.  The information I obtained is not the complete interviews by police, I'm sure.  There are so many more houses that police left cards in the mailbox or door, but I did not receive open records with their statements.  Remember when a neighbor recalls what Jennifer told them it is secondhand information and sometimes people may exaggerate or don't remember correctly.
