You might be wondering what has happened on Boring Mondays. During the middle of this year, our crew has been bogged down with serious health issues. Some of us had to lie low for weeks but we never had the chance to detail why. 



On Boring Mondays this 17th of October, we are going to talk about our long absences because it was not just me who had to deal with a medical emergency. We'll also talk about what lies ahead. We'll try to keep it light despite the seriousness of what we plan to discuss.

Our one-on-one interview with Mars Galang proves that, regardless of your situation, you will succeed in your chosen career if you have the dream and vision, the initiative and the attentiveness, and, most off, the determination. 



Here's what 6 things we've learned about Mars:



1. He came from extremely humble beginnings and literally slept on the streets. Growing up in the Tondo, Mars said that he didn't have specific aspirations then because what was in his mind was -- where would he sleep or clean up, what he will eat? 



2. He experienced the harshest life in his youth but anchored everything on his strong faith in his Creator. In the streets, he met and became buddies with Rocky Gathercole. Rocky went on to make a name for himself in the creative industry and they lost touch for some time. Mars relayed an inspiring anecdote about his friendship with Rocky, especially before his death.



3. In his childhood, his first art "tools" were a cardboard box for canvas and charcoal (uling) for "crayons." But he created his first masterpiece, a portrait, out of bubble gum. He won a gold medal for it.



4. He started at the lowest level in production but this did not stop him from learning by observing. To this day, what he picked up from these observations is still the foundation of his work as a creative director, visual artist, and stylist. 



5. Working with famous directors, including those in Hollywood, polished his craft. He was able to step his foot at this door based on recommendations and networking. But eventually, Mars' work spoke for him. International productions hired him because he's synonymous with quality. He admits he is expensive, and a perfectionist...but his clients know that they are paying. In our interview, he enumerated the best Hollywood actors he has worked with and has anecdotes about them.



6. Whatever success he created with his name, this didn't change his humanity, his discipline, and his principles in life. He also continues to attract good fortune because of his attitude. Mars once had mounted an exhibit financed by someone he did not personally know. He never expected that there are still kind people willing to support and believe in people like him.

We're opening our third season of Boring Mondays with a topic viewers have long been asking for. It may be controversial and scandalous for some, but it's definitely art for many. 



Our guests aren't likely to do a lot of interviews for their work because it is a specialized area. And since it's such a niche, we'd like to raise awareness and contribute to the knowledge of both photographers and models who may have plans to try this genre.



We've invited some very interesting artists who have been subjects of fine art, erotic photography, boudoir, and conceptual photoshoots. They will discuss with us the do's and don'ts of their work, especially in this time of #MeToo
