Episode 5: Melissa Bowler on Improv, Growing Through Bad Performances, and Broadening her acting..

Episode 5: Melissa Bowler on Improv, Growing Through Bad Performances, and Broadening her acting..

We’re back and we’ve decided to take this in a new direction. Our passion for acting and performing sparked this new adventure for us. Now we want to keep learning and talking with people who have done it or are currently in the field of acting, performing, and film.  So moving forward each guest will be centered around this concept.

Our guest in this episode is Melissa Bowler.  She is the co-founder of Providence Improv Guild (PIG for short), a training center and comedy venue that focuses on giving performers an open stage, teaching improv and sketch comedy classes and workshops. She also travels across the country with her workshop “Connecting Through Comedy”, which trains professionals in teamwork, open communication, and creative problem-solving.

In our episode, we talk about how she got her start in improv, how it helped her in other areas of comedy (standup, sketch writing). How faking confidence is key, and how bad shows and performances are part of the growth. Simulation acting, medical simulations, and how that has broadened her spectrum of acting. And the advice she offered us to continue our passion.

So we hope you enjoy this episode, and without further a due her she is Melissa Bowler…

Episode 3 Part 1: Michael Dubuc

Episode 3 Part 1: Michael Dubuc

Our guest this episode is Michael Dubuc.  Now when I asked him to provide a quick intro describing himself and his experiences, he sent this back to me. “Michael Dubuc. Father, Husband, Entertainer, Nutritional Mixologist and most importantly energetic electrician. Always trying to put the lights on for the world each day” Just a small taste of what you can expect for this episode, and you’ll quickly hear how amazing of a storyteller he is.

We talk about what made him want to become an actor, his experiences on major Hollywood movie sets. His decision to move to LA, and why the deletion of the thought, “there’s no way, not me” allowed him so many incredible opportunities and experiences.  The man is truly trying to change the game.

There’s so much good stuff here that we decided to break it up into part 1 and part 2.

So, we hope you enjoy part 1 of our entertaining conversation with Michael Dubuc…

    Episode 2: Matt Streich

    Episode 2: Matt Streich

Our guest this episode is Matt Streich. Matt is currently an Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach at
Ponoma-Pitzer Colleges in Claremont California. Prior to that he spent two seasons as an
Assistant Coach and Recruiting Coordinator at Nichols College. He also spent 3 seasons as an
    Assistant Coach at Emmanuel College.
He graduated from Ithaca College in 2011 where he played Baseball for three seasons and was

baseball both domestically and overseas in Sweden and Australia from 2011-2014.
And finally, he is the host of his own podcast called The Coaches Classroom.
Obviously, an impressive resume, but all that aside we are very lucky to call Matt a friend. I
think those you who know Matt will get to know him even better. I know Phil and I did. We talk
about lot of topics from how he decided to start his podcast, his experiences playing baseball
overseas, his interest and daily practices with mindfulness, how he balances the responsibility
of being a coach, and why he vowed to himself to always do what he loves and what makes him
    happy.
We hope you enjoy this inspiring and insightful conversation, so without further a due, here he
    is, Matt Streich….
