If you're a carnivalist that plays mas regularly, you've probably crossed paths with the Playmas platform at some point for costume registration. Rory Peters, their Sales and Operations Director, is one of the brains behind the scenes. Rory and I sat down virtually back in November '23 (I know, it's been a minute), but we recently met in Miami for an event we were both attending. This conversation was worth the wait, and we’re happy to share it with you! Plus, who doesn't love a good UK accent? 
As a reminder, this season, we're all about peeling back the curtain and shining a spotlight on the folks and crews that make carnival magic happen. Rory shares his thoughts about the carnival scene, and of course educates us about Playmas, so buckle up and get ready to soak in the knowledge.
P.s. since we recorded, Playmas has teamed up with AI Tix, another tech whiz crew. I was intrigued when I met their founder during my Miami escapades. I have a feeling that Mario will be gracing us with his presence on the podcast soon. Both AI Tix and Playmas are cooking up some seriously cool stuff to amp up our carnival game and keep us safe. Are you tired of feeling let down during the costume collection process? Well, you're certainly not alone. As a seasoned veteran of the carnival scene, I've had my fair share of disappointments over the years. But instead of dwelling on the negatives, I decided to turn those complaints into solutions for mas bands to implement.
In the Fall of 2023, I reached out to my social media supporters and asked them to share their tips and suggestions to help mas bands improve their operations. And let me tell you, the response was overwhelming! So, in this episode, appropriately titled "Dear Mas Bands," I'm diving into the insights and advice provided by myself and my community.
We’re breaking these tips down into five key categories: planning, training, operations and logistics, communication, and accountability.
In the world of mas production, the way you handle challenges can make or break your reputation. So, let's lead with empathy, communicate with clarity, and always strive for improvement. After all, it's the support of the carnival community that keeps us going.
