1 John - The Impact of the Incarnation Bob Corbin & Family Bible Church

Over the past two messages we have seen the impact of the incarnation in the life of the believer specifically in our refection of Christ. In today's message we consider the greatest of these reflections - our reflection of His gift of eternal life! If we truly believe the promise of Christ that He has given to us eternal life it will transform our lives. As a result of our confidence in this promise we will have a willingness to lay down our lusts and our lives. Also, we would exhibit a greater comprehension of the purpose and power of prayer; seeking not our own will but that of the God who redeemed us. As we considered in the last message, Christ was incarnate in order that His followers would have joy (John 15:11). The joy of the believer ought to be a reflection of the presence of Christ in them. As the resurrection of Christ is the climax and core of the gospel message, so the incarnation is the foundation and strength of the gospel message. Paul declared to Timothy: 'And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness - God was manifested in the flesh (the incarnation), justified in the Spirit, seen by angels, preached among the Gentiles, believed on the world, received up in glory (the resurrection).' The testimony of God regarding the incarnation is extremely crucial. Indeed, the validity of our testimony is contigent upon the veracity of God's testimony!
