In the second episode of Black Girl Galaxy, I will be exploring the ways in which the Canadian education system has contributed to the racialization of non-white people and negative experiences for people of color on University and College campuses.
My Guest Sophie, a nurse who graduated from uOttawa discusses how she used experiences like being called the "n-word" in class to start an African Student Alliance to promote diversity of all people on campus.
Lastly, I will touch upon how the education system creates a funnel that admits fewer and fewer black students in all levels of education starting from elementary school.
Instagram pages like @IveyAtTheMargins and @StolenbySmith contain more stories from marginalized people that help shed light on the severity of this issue.
