    A Conversation With: Josh Olfert

After a few weeks off, I have anther interview! Today I spoke with my friend Josh Olfert. Josh is the founder of Haven Wealth Management where he advises millions of dollars worth of accounts. Recently he has begun a YouTube Channel (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCjVbULafeplOeL_wva3i1DQ) where he discusses a wide variety of topics when it comes to personal finance. I really enjoyed this conversation and believe there is a ton of value to be found in it!

Lower The Bar: How Lowering My Expectations Has Lead To Greater Results

Lower The Bar: How Lowering My Expectations Has Lead To Greater Results

So yesterday I spoke about my current routine. One thing that I've implemented to stay the course is an idea I call: Acceptable Minimum Activity. Basically, what is the least I can do an activity and still feel as if I accomplished something. You may think this a strange way to be productive, but basically I imagine the busiest day I could, or a day I feel I have absolutely no energy. On that day what could I accomplish in a number of areas of my life, because if I could do it that day, I could do it everyday. Often times I far surpass this minimum, which is awesome. On the days I don't I am ok with that, knowing I was still productive and able to do it the next day all over again.

Routine: How I'm Staying Productive During Lockdown

Last Spring when it seemed the whole world shut down I wasn't nearly as productive as I would've liked. I had a ton of ideas of what I could do, had the time to do them but after a week of working extremely hard I burnt out. Learning from that, I was a little more prepared for this shutdown. After a few days of figuring it out I've settled into a routine I've been able to keep for a few weeks now.

Fake it till you make it is BS: How I actually gained confidence

Fake it till you make it is BS: How I actually gained confidence

I have repeatedly spoken about my love of cliches in these journal entries. I tried to think of one that I didn't agree with and this was the result. As someone who grew up with self confidence issues, I tried my best to act confident. This combined with a proclivity to want to please people lead me to being in a much worse position. I finally started to gain confidence by actually doing/accomplishing things. Although I still have moments of doubt, I generally carry myself with a confidence I was never sure I'd possess.

Value: How I Make Decisions Regarding Time and Money

Value: How I Make Decisions Regarding Time and Money

I spoke about accountability yesterday. That is an external motivator. Today I speak about value, an internal source of motivation. We as humans place are value in things, and whether conscious or not we act based on these values. Few years ago I went through the process of actually writing out things that I value and prioritized them. By doing this, I now have a framework, a filter of sorts, to help make decisions. Let me know what you think of this.

Accountability: How I Use Social Media to Be More Productive

Accountability: How I Use Social Media to Be More Productive

Believe it or not, I am someone who isn't naturally productive. If left to my own devices I tend to be quite lazy actually. In this video I discuss my thoughts on accountability, the first time really understanding the power of it and how I now use social as a tool to get the things I know I want to get done, done.
