21- Byron Borger | Jesus is Lord of All Things, Including Your Studies

For the final episode of this season on The DiscipleMakers Podcast, we talked with a special guest, Byron Borger, about what it practically means for us to live as though Jesus is Lord in all areas of life. We particularly focused on what this means for college students when it comes to their studies, majors , and future carriers.
We were blown away by Byron’s passion and excitement for this topic and walked away from our conversation with full hearts and minds. We hope you have a similar experience as you listen and soak up the wisdom he has to share. He paints a beautiful picture of what it looks like to not just be a Christian that studies a specific topic or has a specific carrier, but what it looks like to fully integrate and intertwine our fields of study with our faith in Jesus and use that as a launching pad to reverse the curse of the fall, build God’s kingdom, and share the Gospel.

20- Zack Gugenheim | Holistic Discipleship

20- Zack Gugenheim | Holistic Discipleship

On this episode of The DiscipleMakers Podcast, we talked with Zack Gugenheim about the connection between our souls and our bodies.
Often Christians can tend to want to solve every problem or trial with a spiritual answer. But through our conversation, Zack helped us to see how the Bible actually calls us to view ourselves and others more holistically, as both body and soul working together.
This can really help us as we seek to care well for others, and gives us some very practical applications for how we should steward our own bodies to become more effective in our ministry. Towards the end of the episode, we also talked about some particular implications of this topic related to the new semester and the continuing pandemic.

19- Mike Chartowich | If God is Good, Why is There Evil & Suffering?

19- Mike Chartowich | If God is Good, Why is There Evil & Suffering?

On this episode of The DiscipleMakers Podcast, we talked with Mike Chartowhich about evil and suffering.

We have a good God, who created the world as perfect, but as sin entered the world, so did evil and suffering. But where does evil come from? Why does God allow evil things to happen in the world?
These are big questions that can oftentimes serve as obstacles in our evangelism or in our own wrestling with the realities of our world. The good news in that the Bible has answers. We walked through these questions during our conversation and even talked about how the Christian and biblical answers to these questions are more satisfying than any others you will find.

18- Brian Roberg | Use Social Media, Don't Let It Use You

18- Brian Roberg | Use Social Media, Don't Let It Use You

On this episode of The DiscipleMakers Podcast, we talked with Brian Roberg about social media.

With more and more of our social interaction happening online these days, it is important for us to consider how we interact with the different social media platforms we use to communicate with others. Why are we doing it? What do we hope to get out of these interactions? And most importantly, what do we want others to take away?
We talked about these questions in the course of our conversation with Brian, and also considered the motives of the companies that run social media platforms. Towards the end of the episode, we also explored the exciting opportunities we have this fall to meet new students on campus through social media, and invite them into our fellowships.

17- Carin Roberg | Honoring Our Parents

17- Carin Roberg | Honoring Our Parents

On this episode of The DiscipleMakers Podcast, we talked with Carin Roberg about honoring our parents.

The coronavirus has impacted our lives in many different ways. But one significant way has been our proximity to home, and for many college students, it means being home with their parents. For many of us, our teenage years are often marked with rebellion or disagreement with our parents as we long for independence and yet still find ourselves under their roof and authority.
But as we enter college, that relationship begins to change as more independence is gained and we gain some distance and perspective on that relationship. The Bible also has a lot to say about how we should be interacting with our parents, so if you are a Christian what the Bible says on this topic should motivate the way you relate to your parents in a big way.

16- Madi Wenger | Heaven – Eternity With Our Savior

On this episode of The DiscipleMakers Podcast, we talked with Madi Wenger about heaven.
In the midst of this coronavirus season, we are constantly confronted by the daily reality of death, especially as the numbers of those who have died from the virus continue to rise. In the midst of not only death, but suffering, pain, sin, disappointment, broken relationships, and more, we long and hope for heaven where every tear will be wiped away.
In our conversation, we explored some common misconceptions of heaven and talked at length about what the Bible says we can expect in heaven, how we get to heaven, and how the reality of an eternity spent there should impact or lives every day.
