This Week on the Socials

An 18-time All-Star, 16-time Gold Glove Award winner and two-time World Series champion, Brooks Robinson remains the defensive standard to which third basemen are held. The @Orioles legend was born #OTD in 1937. pic.twitter.com/po4AlqvsfJ— National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum ⚾ (@baseballhall) May 18, 2024

The rumors are true: I will be joining Here's To The Night to perform a pop-punk classic at approximately 3:20 in Legends Park. Will this be a Florence Foster Jenkins-esque disaster? The end of my career? Or the beginning of a new one?Let's find out together. pic.twitter.com/QQ9QQ0OqZR— Kevin Brown (@kevinnbrown) May 18, 2024

Around the Bases

First Base: Roster Crunch

We have come accustomed to not having enough talent in the organization. We’ve also become accustomed to talent in the organization being too far away to have a meaningful impact on our hopes and dreams. But now the organization has talent up and down. And difficult decisions are being made. We as fans need to enjoy the guys while they’re here, and understand that the fringe guys might not be here indefinitely – they’re not here on scholarship, anymore.

Second Base: The Next, Next Chapter

The Orioles finally released another episode of The Next Chapter, so Jake can find something else to whine about.

Third Base: Adley Rutchman is good at baseball

Let’s just say that, here at Bird’s Eye View, we have fallen Truly. Adley. Deeply.

Home Plate: Predictions

In 2023, we predicted that the division was out of reach because the Rays were running away with it. Here in 2024, it looks like the AL East is a two-horse race between the Orioles and Yankees. So… is it too early to predict “who will own it?”

Status of the Pitching

The Orioles’ pitching staff, despite giving up 9 runs to the Diamondbacks on Sunday, have averaged about 2.86 runs per game in May. On a team with serious star power on the offensive side of the ball, the pitching staff is more than holding up its end of the bargain.
