Episode 235 – And A New One Has (Finally) Begun

Episode 235 – And A New One Has (Finally) Begun

OK, ok, ok, sorry we’re late. We recorded this show as normal on Monday after a week’s delay thanks to Storm Brendan hitting the Isle of Man with 80MPH winds (about as fast as a Williams in Monza) and we thought that we’d just start 2020 a week later than normal. We didn’t think that Paul would get hit with a pretty bad stomach bug when he was meant to be editing and posting the show this week, so after an extra 4 day delay we finally get 2020 kicked off!

The week on our first show of 2020 we take a look at some of the F1 stories that have cropped up since Christmas and take a brief look forward to the upcoming launches and testing that will kick off the new F1 season that starts properly in Melbourne in March.

There’s also the Launch of the Formula Lee Winter Series And a who’s a total shunt (this may or may not be from the greatest hits collection) And don’t forget that the extra Patreon  podcastsare available on out page over there and that the podcast now goes out live on YouTube every Monday at 9PM UK time

    Here’s to 2020!

    Enjoy

Episode 234 – Another Year Over

Episode 234 – Another Year Over

So the end of another year of F1 and now we get a couple of months without seeing a car spin it’s wheels (or in the case of one driven by Sebastian Vettel, just spin) in anger. It’s been a pretty good F1 season really, so what better way to wrap it up then to do our usual team by team season review.

This week on the podcast we go though the grid and look at how each team fared over the course of 2019 and a little bit of what they can look forward to in 2020, as long as there’s no major shocks between now and March of course!

There’s also a bit of a round up of the last bits of news and gossip from this season along with the final results from Formula Lee, our prediction league and we find out if we can beat the guest predictors as well.

A massive thank you to everyone who’s joined us in 2019 here, the extra Patreon  podcasts, our live YouTube shows & the race blogs and we’ll be back to do it all again for the 2020 season.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from us all.

Episode 233 – Flu Can’t Bring Me Down

Episode 233 – Flu Can’t Bring Me Down

We’re back on track this week after 80% of us got taken down by a bad bout of Manx Flu! And what better way to celebrate being up and about again than to do a podcast!

This week on a bit of an impromptu show we take a brief look back a couple of things that came up at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix with the DRS “problem” that stopped it being used for the first part of the race and there’s a roundup of the post season testing and a look at some end of season news that’s come up over the last few days, along with the FIA end of season prize giving and we get to talk about 2020 regulations as well (it’s almost like next season wasn’t going to happen!

We decided not to do the season review this week as we needed a little more time to prepare, so we’ve got that coming for you next week in our Christmas Special, but there was still time for a Who’s A Total Shunt (we need to find a new name for this when Paul’s asking the questions) this week.

Next week’s show will have the Final Formula Lee and predictions results too, so don’t worry if you think you’ve missed them on this show, you haven’t!

Don’t forget about our extra show on our Patreon page where you can get an exclusive extra podcast for as little as $1 a month. And if you want your own 3Legs4Wheels t-shirt  you can get one from our shop at Teepublic

Episode 232 – Literally Driving Into The Sunset

Episode 232 – Literally Driving Into The Sunset

So is the Day/Night Abu Dhabi Grand Prix just one big metaphor then? With it being the only twilight race of the year and coming at the end of the season then I guess the whole “sun setting on another year” thing sort of rings true?

This week on the podcast we look forward to this year’s race in the desert, which could see the end of a couple of careers (Hulk & Kubica) and the highest number of drivers in a long time (18) who know they’ll be staying with their current teams next year. Not much news to report this week as we’re right at the end of the season and we’re pretty sure that any major announcements will be held over until testing next week (or when Nicholas Latifi has qualified for his Super Licence and can officially be announced by Williams), but there’s all the usual stuff like Who’s A Total Shunt and finally the Formula Lee results from Brazil and a reminder of the current challenge (Abu Dhabi in the dry in a Mercedes) and a reminder about the last round of our predictions league running too that you can take part in.

Don’t forget about our extra show on our Patreon page where you can get an exclusive extra podcast for as little as $1 a month. And if you want your own 3Legs4Wheels t-shirt  you can get one from our shop at Teepublic

Also this year we’re talking part in Movember (you’ll see how we’re doing with our moustaches if you watch the show on YouTube) to raise funds to support men’s health. You can donate or even join in with team 3L4W here

Episode 231 – Try Summarizing That!

Episode 231 – Try Summarizing That!

Well that was a surprise, although we’re still not sure what was the biggest one, 2 Honda powered cars on the podium, Carlos Sainz getting 3rd (eventually), Ferrari taking each other out, an actual Mercedes engine letting go in a Mercedes for the first time in ages. Whatever way, Brazil rarely lets us down and it certainly didn’t this year!

This week on the podcast we take a look back at what can only be called an action-packed Brazilian Grand Prix (or certainly the last 20 minutes of it were) where McLaren got their first podium since Australia 2014, but just like that race they only had it confirmed after the ceremony and the two Ferrari drivers found themselves both in the gravel and also being summoned to Maranello for what’s being described as “an extra debrief” to explain their actions.

There’s the usual team by team review and or thoughts on all the talking points from the race along with the usual stuff as well like  Who’s A Total Shunt and a new Formula Lee challenge (Abu Dhabi in the dry in a Mercedes) with the last results to follow on next week’s show and don’t forget to sign up for our league in the official Fantasy F1 game and we’ve got our own predictions league running too that you can take part in.

Episode 230 – Brazilian Techno Special

Episode 230 – Brazilian Techno Special

Don’t panic about the title, we’ve not gone off into a world of strange dance music! This week on the podcast we’re joined, once again by technical specialist Craig Scarborough to take a look back at the developments that the teams have made this season and take a look forward to the 2021 regulations that came out while the F1 circus was in Austin a couple of weeks ago.

Craig talks us through the grid and shares his thoughts on some of the concepts that the teams have tried out this year and points out where things went to plan and a couple of things that could have been worked on a bit better. We also take a fairly detailed look at what the new rules for the season after next will mean for the way cars race and more importantly follow each other.

Also we look forward to this weekend’s upcoming Brailian Grand Prix, where Max Verstappen will want to put the disappointment of losing what looked like a sure-fire victory behind him after the incident with Esteban Ocon.

Sadly we didn’t have time for a Who’s A Total Shunt this week, but it’ll be back next time and just a quick reminder that there’s a Formula Lee challenge running for another week (Brazil in the wet in an Alfa Romeo) and if you want to make your predictions for this weekend’s race you can over at our predictions league.  Also if you want to watch the show instead of just listening to it, we’re now streaming live every week over on our YouTube channel and you can watch the last few shows again there too.

Don’t forget about our extra show on our Patreon page where you can get an exclusive extra podcast for as little as $1 a month. And if you want your own 3Legs4Wheels t-shirt  you can get one from our shop at Teepublic
