Maggie Smith | Good Bones, Good Life

Maggie Smith | Good Bones, Good Life

Poet Maggie Smith candidly unpacks the lightning strike success of her viral 2016 poem "Good Bones" and how it strained her marriage, ultimately unraveling - an upheaval she unflinchingly explores in her vulnerable memoir You Could Make This Place Beautiful.
Smith discusses metabolizing life's "unanswerable mysteries" through writing, going viral as an introvert, modeling authenticity for her kids, and our struggle to embrace life's "andness." With radiant honesty, she pursues the uncomplicated truth of simply being herself through stillness and creativity.
This profound dialogue is a masterclass on upheaval, art, and what it means to truly live a good life from one of today's vital literary voices.

make your world and this world better bit by bit, conversation by conversation

Jonathan’s podcast was recommended to me almost a decade ago. I listen in the car , in my garden, doing housework and on my bicycle. Every single podcast offers up something to consider that is applicable to my own life. Every single podcast inspires me to live better, motivates and supports me. I live in Japan and don’t have anyone to talk to about all these different things, but listening in on these conversations is the next best thing, or the best thing because I get to follow along for a while in the footsteps of those who have climbed mountains through deep snow. I get to see their views, and it gives me a wider view too.
