Having A Night is a podcast dedicated to reviving the lost art of the dinner party. Sophie von Haselberg and Ariana Venturi are obsessed with both the micro and the macro of the all-important question: how to throw the absolute, supreme, no holds barred, remember-it-forever-unless-you-were-too-drunk dinner party.
Sexy/Spooky: Halloween Alchemy with Douglas Little
Douglas Little is king of the goth, Edwardian, rock-and-roll aesthetic. Didn't know that was a thing? Well, look him up and you'll see why it is. And you'll understand exactly why he is the man to talk about making Halloween not just spooky, but also sexy. He did sleep in a coffin for two years as a teenager, after all.
For years, he's been one of the creative forces behind New York Restoration Project's annual fundraiser, Hulaween, so he knows a thing or two about eco-friendly table decor and making a space special, no matter the size. But not only does Douglas have a one-of-a-kind eye, he also has a one-of-a-kind NOSE -- he's the mastermind behind Heretic Perfumes, an all-natural perfume line most notorious for creating GOOP's "This Smells Like My Vagina" Candle. (Yes, we would have bought if it if weren't perpetually sold out.)
We talk about using essential oils in recipes, the perfect Halloween blend of spooky/silly/sexy, and adventures in tempering chocolate. Halloween is nearly here, and this is all about making it more fun than ever, even if you're planning a party for one.
Season 3 Premiere: Fantasy Fête
It's been 7 months of face masks, no parties, and being terrified of other people. And the girls just can't take it anymore! So they're planning a fantasy Season 3 Premiere party. Yes, it's fake. But that doesn't make it any less fun! OK fine, it's SLIGHTLY less fun than an actual party with other people, but with zero budgetary constraints and zero COVID constraints, imaginations can run wild!
Silk face masks embroidered with "Having A Night Night"? Check!
85 people playing a rousing game of Truth or Dare? Check!
A fountain of chips? We don't even know how this would work, but double, triple, QUADRUPLE check!
The girls are elated to be back, in case you couldn't tell, and they have tremendous guests in store, not to mention dumb videos, even dumber photos, and their weekly Chip Hour on IG Live @havinganight Wednesdays at 6pm EST. And they want to hear from you! DM your questions -- there is no question too big or too small -- to @havinganight or email them at firstname.lastname@example.org

Kyle MacLachlan: Pursued by Bear
We’ve been fans of Kyle MacLachlan’s for years, and after talking to him about his wine label, Pursued by Bear, we’re even BIGGER fans. Que Syrah, Syrah! (Sorry, we had to…) For our Season 2 FINALE, join us for an auditory journey into the wilds of Washington wine country aka the fruit basket of America. And don’t you worry, we get to the bottom of what Trey MacDougal and Dale Cooper’s favorite wines would be.
We’ll see you for Season 3! Thanks for listening.

Seasons may come and go, leaders may fall, pandemics may rise... but CORN is eternal. As we approach the final days of this unprecedented and strange summer, we’re reflecting on one crop that will always taste like home. Whether you like it boiled or steamed, grilled or creamed, we bet you’ve enjoyed some of that sweet, sweet summer CORN. Let’s take a lil break from the politics and the stress to honor the tiny kernels that unite us all.
XOXO Tag us in your favorite CORN dishes and as always- rate the pod if you love the pod!
This week the girls had the privilege of interviewing culinary ambassador Pierre Thiam. Born in Senegal, Thiam is a New York City- based chef, restaurateur, author, and entrepreneur who has worked to bring the flavors and culinary traditions of West Africa to the rest of the world, and whose career runs the gamut between hospitality and social justice. His company Yolélé Foods advocates for smallholder farmers in the Sahel by opening new markets for crops grown in Africa; its signature product, Yolélé Fonio, is now available at retailers across America. It is also extremely delicious and, as Thiam says, easier to pronounce than quinoa :). Join us as we talk about the importance of sharing food with both loved ones and strangers.
Xoxo See you at Chip Hour everyday Wednesday at 6PM est! And rate the pod if you love the pod as much as we love you!
CHICAGO! Pt. 2
Sausage. Sausage. Ditka. Sausage. This week, the girls are joined by Elana Schulman of legendary Eli’s Cheesecake, a true Chicago institution. From the 1893 World’s Fair to Taste of Chicago (the biggest food festival in the world! THE WORLD!), this is a city steeped in sausage, er-- food firsts. We’re diving into a smorgasbord of culinary history and tradition that makes this city so damn delicious.
