    Susan would like to dedicate this episode to her mother, Margaret Ingram, 92. Margaret was a big fan of the show and looked forward to listening to the podcast. Unfortunately, she died a couple of weeks before the first episode was released and just a few days before this interview with Kyle.

    We also get insight into the show's philosophy that made it stand out from other police dramas.


    We would also like to add that Our hearts are with everyone affected by the collapse of Baltimore's Francis Scott Key Bridge on March 26. The bridge and its elegant structure was long a part of the Baltimore skyline.

    On our first episode of “Homicide: Life On The Set,” we're joined by Jean de Segonzac, the cinematographer for seasons 2-5 and director of six episodes and "Homicide: The Movie."

    Jean discusses the philosophy behind the lighting and distinctive camera movement in the show with Susan and Chris. He also shares his experience transitioning from Cinematographer to director on the show, managing its large ensemble cast.

    Beyond "Homicide," Jean has directed episodes of "Battlestar Galactica," "CSI," "Law & Order," and "OZ." Before directing, Jean was a Cinematographer for National Geographic and on films and TV shows like "Laws of Gravity,” ”Road Scholar," and the first three episodes of "OZ."
