It is with heavy hearts that we deliver this week’s episode honoring the passing of a true recording innovator and master of his craft: the amazing Mr. Steve Albini. Our good friend and fellow podcasting brother, Chris L joins us from the awesome Pod Of Thunder podcast. We knew we needed someone who represented the region of the country Steve was from and where he did most of his work; a magical faraway place called Chicagoland. Chris was a musician in the Chicago scene in the 90s when Albini’s “production” was soaring, and his recordings were impacting the rock and alternative world hugely. This a tough loss, as Albini’s ability to capture the true essence of a real rock n’ roll band was second to none.

Meet Captain Content in the pit this week for a hella good time! We’re getting our aggression by revisiting the starting point of Kevin’s music fandom. The thrash, crossover, and speed metal movement of the 80s spawned his love of all things rock n’ punk n’ metal. Once again, we will not be covering the Big 4 of Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, and Anthrax; but if you love them, then you will love this bunch.

This week we present another installment of our ongoing series called “Grave Mistakes: They Shoulda Been Huge!!!”. We’re talking about a 90’s band that most consider a 1 hit wonder alternative group. SPACEHOG is much more than most give them credit for. They were a unique band that carried the flag more for classic 70’s glam and power pop than alternative & grunge.
