The Los Angeles Angels swept the Boston Red Sox on Wednesday, after Tyler Anderson turned in 6 great innings, and Shohei Ohtani, Mike Trout, and Zach Neto all homered in this one! The Halos had some strong defense at work in this one as well, keeping the lead throughout the game and adding enough run support to make it comfortable for the bullpen to finish out the game well. We'll break it all down for you in segment 1!
Then, with the win last night, the Angels would only need 2 more victories to get to 15 wins in May, which would keep them on pace to have at least 90 wins by the end of the season. With the remaining series against the Marlins and White Sox coming up, do the Angels have the opportunity to walk away with an even better record in May? We'll tell you all about it in segment 2!
Plus, Reid Detmers is an important part of this Angels rotation, and the young starting pitcher has had a bit of a rocky start this season. While he's shown flashes of what makes him great, the results have not been too kind so far. The Los Angeles Angels take another series win against a plus .500 team in the form of the Boston Red Sox, as Griffin Canning pitches 7 scoreless innings of 2-hit baseball! The Los Angeles Angels take game 1 of a 3-game set against the Boston Red Sox after a strong pitching performance from Jaime Barria and some heroics by Mickey Moniak! Barria got his 1st start since August of 2021, going 5 scoreless innings before Chris Devenski and Chase Silseth kept the Sox off the scoreboard. Mickey Moniak had a solo home run to give the Angels the lead, and that was all it took to get the big win! There's just one problem though; Aaron Loup returned, and he wasn't able to keep the Sox from scoring. The Los Angeles Angels finally earned a series win over a plus .500 team in the Minnesota Twins, taking 2 out of 3 this past weekend at the Big A. On Friday night, the Halos were treated to a Reid Detmers no-hitter through 5 innings, and although he couldn't hang onto it, Mickey Moniak earned himself quite a night as well with a single, double, triple, and robbing a home run! The Angels take game 1, and we'll recap it in segment 1!
Then, Saturday's loss felt very deflating, as Patrick Sandoval struggled out of the gate and the offense, aside from Shohei Ohtani's home run, didn't make very much noise. The return of Jared Walsh was exciting for Halo fans, but it came at the expense of Brett Phillips, who was designated for assignment. We'll tell you all about it in segment 2!
Plus, Ohtani stood tall on the mound through 6 innings of 2-hit, 1-run pitching, totaling 9 strikeouts on the day! It went a long way in helping the Halos secure the win in addition to the offense of Mickey Moniak! Plus, we saw the additions of some new bullpen pieces prior to the game, and Reyes Moronta and Chris Devenski helped get the ball into the hands of Matt Moore and Carlos Estevez. We'll tell you how Sunday's win went in segment 3!
