Confronting the talent shortage - perspectives from Nigel Barbour and Jono Brent

Confronting the talent shortage - perspectives from Nigel Barbour and Jono Brent

In this episode we hear from Orion Chief Executive Nigel Barbour and Head of Leadership Breakthroughs at In Your Corner, Jono Brent as they discuss the current talent shortages in the energy sector and how it might require the courage to behave in ways that leverage the collective strength of the industry to tackle it together. New Zealand's Electrical Distribution industry plays a pivotal role in ensuring the reliable supply of electricity to consumers and businesses across the country. However, the industry is facing numerous challenges, including technological advancements, regulatory changes, Australia calling and the imminent retirement of a significant portion of its workforce. To remain competitive and sustainable, it is crucial for the industry to focus on attracting and retaining a capable workforce that is not only adaptable to foreseeable changes but one that sees significant benefit in being a part of the EDB sector in New Zealand specifically. This will mean ensuring all our workers thrive and have visibility of the opportunities within the sector.
