Murf's Turf: A Star Trek Prodigy Prodcast Brent and Jude

Jude (and Dad, unfortunately) are finally back to discuss the final episode of Star Trek: Prodigy's first season half, A Moral Star Part 2.  Jude has a prediction come true and Dad spins a brand new theory about where the show is going from here.  But that isn't all. The Protostar Crew must take all that they have learned so far and put into action to return to Tars Lamora to save the rest of the miners that got left behind.  It's their own person Kobiyashi Maru scenario, and things go horribly wrong...until they don't, and they're plan is pressed into action.  Oh, and new uniforms are always an excited topic.  We'll do a deep dive into all our favorite moments, lessons learned, and more.

Because it's a show with Janeway, even a Hologram version, we get weird time stuff.  In this one, a Tachyon Storm has bad juju on the Protostar drive and fractures the ship and its crew into different phases of time.  They have to learn to each work together to solve the problem, with only hologram Janeway to communicate.  While they're at it, they must also learn to believe in themselves.  It's a really good episode of Sci-Fi, and Jude makes the most stunning prediction that left even Brent speechless.

The crew runs into Dal's space mom, a Ferengi named Nandi, who convinces Dal and the crew to help her obtain a crystal from a species that has never met an alien species.  Janeway tries to warn the crew that First Contact can be dangerous and exist for a reason, but it falls on deaf ears.  Of course, Nandi double crosses the crew and they have to work to right the wrong, and Dal learns a valuable lesson who choosing who you trust.

It's been nearly 7 weeks of hiatus from our last episode to this one...but Star Trek: Prodigy is back and all is right with the world, well, for at least the next 5 weeks.  In this week's episode, "Kobayashi," Dal goes head-to-head with impossible-to-win Captain's test and he learns some very valuable lessons along the way, but we the viewers are also treated to a blast from Trek Past, well, 5 blasts as it were, as we see some of Star Trek's biggest characters join Dal in the holodeck to complete this assignment.  Plus, is Murf indestructible?  And Jude can not correctly pronounce Chakotay's name to save his life.  This one is full of laughs and excitement and a good time all around.

Brent and Jude discuss episode 5 of Star Trek Prodigy, entitled "Terror Planet."  A fantastic episode and a great way to wrap up the opening 5 episode arc which could effectively be considered together as the full pilot.  But for as much as this episode answers for us, it also leaves us with new questions.  But like all good Star Trek, there's a fantastic message behind this one.
