My Music Seen Ep10: Music F-Marry-Kill

My Music Seen Ep10: Music F-Marry-Kill

Think about your 3 favorite bands or artist. Now you have to make a decision:
    - See 1 in concert but then you can never again listen to their music.

    - 1 becomes the only band you can listen to the rest of you life.

    - The 3rd one you are never allowed to listen to ever again.

This week My Music Seen challenges the guys to a kind of musical F-Marry-Kill.

Listen as Jeff Spencer wrestles with deciding the fate of Jimmie Hendrix, Eddie VanHalen, and Jimmie Page.

Willis has a battle with his favorite hair bands.

And the guys pin up CAP with the Boss, Hall and Oates, and Butch Walker.

These are just a few of the scenarios playing out on todays episode. Other artists in the mix???
    - The Traveling Wilburys, Maroon 5, The Script, Glen Campbell, Jason Isbell, Paul, John, and George, Pink, Cindy Lauper and many others.

This episode is fun, frustrating, and insightful. Enjoy!

My Music Seen Ep9: Who wrote about Sex, Drugs, and Rock & Roll better?

My Music Seen Ep9: Who wrote about Sex, Drugs, and Rock & Roll better?

The storyline and imagery of #Sex #Drugs and #RockandRoll has been written and sung about by bands, artists, and musicians for decades. Bands like Aerosmith, Kiss, Van Halen, The Eagles, Twisted Sister, The Stones (just to name a few) glamorized it and often vilified it in countless songs.

On this episode of MyMusicSeen, the guys tackle this subject and submit who they believe wrote about the topic best.

Jeff Willis rolls with the sacrilegious ramblings of Motley Crue’s “Wild Side”. This choice clearly stirs up controversy with Spencer who believes the Crew is nothing more than an assembly of Van Halen posers commercializing Rock Music.

Jeff Spencer offers up a disturbing and to-close-to-home insights of Counting Crows “Perfect Blue Buildings”. This song hits home with Spencer as he relives his dark days as a touring musician battling drug addiction.

CAP goes with 1-Hit Wonder group The New Radicals with their deep cut track called “I Hope I Didn’t Just Give Away the Ending”. A song that tells the story of a young couple’s mischievous journey riddled with lies, enablement, pornography, crime, and death.

Vote on your favorite or tell us who you think wrote it better!!!

Special thanks to Sean Cannel https://youtube.com/c/seanTHiNKs for teaching me how to stay connected to my passion and just hit record. And of course, Gary V for inspiring me to move forward with this.

    - Arnie drills into the poignant yet super simplistic imagery of You are So Beautiful by Joe Cocker.

My Music Seen Ep 7: Butch Walker

My Music Seen Ep 7: Butch Walker

Butch Walker is one of the most influential players in the music scene and yet most people would claim they are not familiar with him. However, though you may think you don’t know of him, I assure you, you have experienced his musical genius somewhere along the way.

Butch is Episode 7s feature artist. And selecting 3 songs from the 100s he has written and co-written turned out to be a near impossible task.

But nonetheless, we will explore Cigarette Lighter Love Song from his days with The Marvelous 3, his collaboration on “Almost” by Bowling for Soup, and a recent cut from The Spade by Butch Walker and the Black Widows called “Day Drunk”.

    Enjoy!

My Music Seen Ep5: Tom Petty

My Music Seen Ep5: Tom Petty

The sensational story telling of Tom Petty spans over 4 decades with 13 studio albums with his band The Heartbreakers and 3 solo projects. This week he’s our feature artist. Jeff Spencer explores the mysteries of the Deep South with a cut off his Highway Companion solo album, Jeff Willis will dissect the desperation in Room at the Top, and my pick points out the polarity of a sad story behind his upbeat Early Hit American Girl.
