Mythical Minstrelsy and Flash Fiction Fridays will focus on flash fictions centering around folklore, myth, fantasy, and magic that I have written or have been sent to me for publication. Book reviews will also be published. Author, editor, illustrator, publisher, poet, and rpg site owner interviews are planned for in the future. The episodes are intentionally short due to the nature of flash fiction. Reviews tend to go up on Wednesdays, Flashfictions on Fridays, Interviews Sundays.

I am the author of the "Selkies' Skins" and "Dragon Shaman" series. I also write poetry, illustrate, and do some narration. I also run a small publishing company, THG StarDragon Publishing. If you wish YOUR poetry or flash fictions to be included, or to be interviewed, please see https://www.thgstardragonpublishingblog.com/p/mythical-minstrelsy-flash-fiction.html for details. Flash Fiction Fridays #37: Delicious (Horror)

Flash Fiction Fridays #37: Delicious (Horror)

A pigeon begins to feed on his own and is kicked out of his flock. He makes some new friends and goes to a rather sad place with a flock of crows for some disturbingly strange fare. Questionable choices are made by our possibly misguided bird friend and he makes a grisly discovery.

This short flash fiction of a horror is NOT for the squeamish.

Flash Fiction Fridays Bonus: Ame Reads: The Witches' Creed by Doreen Valiente

I am not feeling very well lately and have several illustrations to do as well as the writing for Flash Fiction Month. With two upcoming doctor appointments requiring long distance travel this month I will be slowing down.

It has been a bit since a meditation or a poetry reading. With this in mind I hope you enjoy Doreen Valiente's "The Witches' Creed" as read by myself and set to music.

It can be read here: https://www.sacred-texts.com/bos/bos083.htm

Flash Fiction Fridays #36: Ame Reads Chinese Folk Tales #17 Why Rabbits Live in Burrows

Flash Fiction Fridays #36: Ame Reads Chinese Folk Tales #17 Why Rabbits Live in Burrows

For the 17th reading from this book for the Trotsdale Library enjoyment and discussion is the old tale of Why Rabbits Live in Burrows as collected by Louise and Yuan Hsi Kuo.
    Narrated by Teresa Garcia

I forgot to mention this when recording but as a gun is implied in this tale I think it to be a more modern version. I can't imagine bows going bang instead of twang. However it should also be remembered that the Chinese had gunpowder first. It would be interesting to try finding an older version to compare with.

Flash Fiction Fridays #35: Ame Reads Chinese Folk Tales #15: The Diplomat

A tiger, a wolf, and a fox went hunting one day. In this short tale from Chinese Folklore we see the diplomacy of the fox on display. Has there ever been a moment in your life where you've had to call on this particular trick of the fox?

Flash Fiction Fridays #34: Chinese Folktales #16, How Rabbits Got Pink Eyes and Long Ears

Today I read "How Rabbits Got Pink Eyes and Long Ears" to be played in the Trotsdale Library for the Sunday story and also for an example of flash fiction. In some ways it is very similar to Brer Rabbit and the Tar Baby. I'd like to hear what you think and if you know any other similar tales.Collected by Louise and Yuan Hsi KuoNarrated by Teresa Garcia
