    In this week’s episode I chat with Kevin Crispin, he’s a fellow podcaster who hosts the Sad Times Podcast who graciously allowed me to be a guest on his podcast. As we chatted there, we realized we had a lot of similarities in our mental health journies. I wanted to bring Kevin on to have an open and honest chat about managing anxiety, seeking help, and medication.

    He shares what he does when he feels the anxiety creeping in and taking over such as practicing mindfulness. He also talks about knowing when it’s time to change medications because they’re no longer working or he’s no longer feeling good while on them.

    He shares there can be an upside too. His anxiety sparks his creativity too. He tries to tap into this creativity on a daily basis as she strives to share the stories of others.

    Ultimately, his goal is to let others know they’re not alone in the struggle.

    In this week’s episode I chat with Jennifer, she’s an author, mom, and serial entrepreneur.

    She talks about her childhood and the horrific things she experienced such as parental abandonment, unstable living conditions, substance abuse, and teen pregnancy.

    As a teen in the midst of the trauma she was looking for belonging and connection and turned to the gangs in Chicago. She continued at full speed like a runaway train trying to heal the pain through drugs and relationships with boys. It wasn’t until she was pregnant with her daughter that her path changed.

    She wanted to share her journey of how she overcame these obstacles while being a single parent and how her perspective of these things happening for her not to her helped her get to where she is today.

    In this week’s episode I share how I was so desperate to find strategies and tools in a self-help book that I was reading it for the third time. As I read it, I became more disheartened because I couldn’t appreciate how special I was as an individual or embrace affirmations making them part of my daily routine.

    Had I been able to have compassion and grace for myself I would have been able to embrace my uniqueness and be more open to affirmations that were relevant to what I needed in that moment.

    As she embarked on a journey to let go of the ‘good girl’ programming that came with her upbringing and overcome an eating disorder, she discovered the power of yoga.

    Throughout her healing journey, her yoga practice brought forth so many lessons and allowed a deep connection with herself. As she connected more with herself, she began tapping into her sacred feminine energy and a different spiritual perspective.

    One day while taking her daughter for a walk, she had an intuitive nudge to write a book. She shares daily practices to make self-growth and discovery more accessible.
