നമ്മുടെ പോഡ്കാസ്റ്റിന്റെ പേര് 'റിഓറിയന്റ് മലയാളം പോഡ്കാസ്റ്റ് ' എന്നാണ്. അതുകൊണ്ട് ഈ ആദ്യ എപ്പിസോഡില്‍ എന്താണ് റീഓറിയന്റ് എന്നു വിശദീകരിക്കാനാണ് ശ്രമിക്കുന്നത്.
ആന്ദ്രെ ഗുന്തര്‍ഫ്രാങ്ക് എന്ന സാമ്പത്തിക ചരിത്രകാരന്‍ 1998ല്‍ പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിച്ച "റീഓറിയന്റ് - ഗ്ലോബല്‍ എക്കോണമി ഇന്‍ ദ ഏഷ്യന്‍ ഏജ് " എന്ന പുസ്തകത്തിലൂടെ മുന്നോട്ടുവെച്ച ആശയമാണ് ഇത്.
