Learning a language not only opens doors of opportunities but also helps give insight into another’s culture. Within the United States alone (according to 2022 data published by Ethnologue) 422 languages are spoken. The U.S., being a melting pot, consists of people from various countries holding the most mixed people in the world.

Taylor Torres is a high school senior from Southern California currently learning Mandarin Chinese, Spanish, and dabbling in lots of languages such as Korean and Thai. She is the founder of Polyglot Perspective and hopes to inspire youth from around the world to learn languages to bridge the gap between different cultures.

In this episode, Taylor Torres discusses her personal experience being a mixed individual in the U.S. and will be discussing what it's like growing up in a Vietnamese-Chinese-Mexican household, along with some preconceptions of mixed people. Lastly, Torres will share what motivated her to start a multilingual, multicultural polyglot youth community as well as updates for the organization.
