29. Darren Aronofsky's The Whale is a Movie with a Whale-Sized Heart
First and Foremost, CONGRATS BRENDAN FRASER!! This week, Brittan and Andrew Manzaro are talking about Darren Aronofsky's The Whale (2022). We break down the complex problems Charlie, a 600lb shut-in teacher, faces while trying to mend a broken relationship with his daughter, Ellie. Brendan Fraser's transformative performance as Charlie secured him the Best Actor Academy Award this year. Hong Chau was also nominated for a supporting role for Liz. We both really enjoyed this movie, the very relevant and real problems it presents to the audience, and the powerful message of encouragement in the character of Charlie. 26. A Long Lost Episode on King Richard (2022)... Before the SLAP
Welcome back to another episode of Servin' Up Cinema -- albeit a long-lost one.
This episode was recorded during the Oscars season in 2022. John Bucy is back in the guest chair, you may know him from the Knock at the Cabin episode. We had no idea that Will Smith would have a controversial moment at the Oscars. Afterward, we decided to shelve the episode until further notice. Well, it's 2023, so we thought it might as well be released now. Please enjoy a wonderful conversation and breakdown on King Richard, a phenomenal biopic on Richard Williams, the father of Venus and Serena.
