Join us this morning for a special outdoor version of our study of Nehemiah.

Sometimes in the Bible we come across a list of obscure names or seemingly meaningless details. It has no apparent connection to our lives today, and we don’t know any of the people being referred to. It makes you wonder why God would put that stuff in there! Usually, we just skip ahead in the story. Nehemiah 7 is just such a passage. But what if we are really watching the third movie in a trilogy like “Lord of the Rings” or “The Bourne Trilogy”? Maybe we don’t get it cause we missed something from the previous parts of the story? I wonder what is getting emphasized and why is it such a big deal? Join us as we try to find out! 

This morning, Pastor Darrel reminds us that we all need our eyes checked from time to time. The same is true in our understanding of who Jesus is. Unless we allow Jesus to test and also touch our spiritual eyes, we may find ourselves becoming blind to what he wants us to experience. When is the last time you've had a spiritual vision check up?

While for others, it seems nothing short of Olympic Gold counts as a win. In Nehemiah chapter 6, we come to a moment of seeming victory with the completion of the wall of Jerusalem. But there are no cheers recorded, parties planned, or parade organized. It seems Nehemiah and God had more in mind than just a construction project.

This is because it’s not their powers that make them super, but their character. In Nehemiah, opposition is a constant. But how do we view this opposition and what might God be doing in allowing difficulties in our lives?
