An Arsenal Podcast full of banter, laughs, and silly games.
5.46: Burnley Preview | The Gooners Pod ft. the TGP crew (Mike, Andy, Eoin)
It’s juuuuuust the 3 of us, Mike, Andy and Eoin appeared together and alone on a pod for the first time in months. We may forget the cameras are on and begin stroking each other……..’s egos. Burnley seems like the “forgotten game” with both Europa League R16 and a NLD coming up after — hopefully Arsenal won’t approach it that way! The three of us mix between banter and our lineup predictions for the game and agree on a pretty strong XI. Tune in for some thoughts and banter from the TGP crew.
5.45: Arsenal Finances – A Straightforward Review of the 2020 Financial Report | The Gooners Pod
Arsenal’s May 2020 Financial Reports are out – Want to learn more without getting bogged down in numbers? Mike’s here to explain things in on layman’s level, answer questions as best he can, and we’ll see what the future looks like! Joined by guests Elliot Smith @yankeegunner of the Arsenal Vision Podcast and Mike Herz @MikeHerzFC of the Not Another Arsenal Podcast, we took a walk through the finances, talked about how the next financial statements will look, and took time to debate a few really interesting topics regarding TV contract revenues, player trading, and the impact of the club’s performance on the bottom line. We even read a section of the review that should be called “The Ozil Pamphlet.”
5.44: The Gooners Pod 2021 Football Phrases FA Cup | ft. @Danarsenal87 & Danny @The_GFP
It’s the 2nd annual Football Phrases FA Cup competition! Dan Potts, Danny the GFP, Mike & Eoin walk through an elimination tournament of the football world’s most famous phrases — you know, the things Mike rings the bell for when he hears/says them. The panel, with the help of the outstanding live chat, decided which phrases advance to the next round until we crowned a champion!
Tune in and listen to how things went down and “who” won!
5.43: An Experimental Chat about the Toxicity in the Arsenal Fanbase with @LeeGunner82
This is a podcast we didn’t see coming, and its up to interpretation whether anything was accomplished. Recently unblocked by Lee, I’ve invited him on to hash out some differences on the State of the Arsenal Fanbase, how people with differing opinions communicate with each other, and see what happens from there. TGP believes in the power of communication over agenda, so off we went. To be fair to Lee, alot of people have made up their minds on him without ever hearing his “side” or what he considers himself to be all about. The goal of today was to ask him some tough questions and let him give his side. I’m not sure he covered himself in much glory with his answers but you can decide for yourself, its an interesting watch, that much could be said.
5.42: The Gooners Pod Leicester 3-1 Arsenal Review | Debate on Opinion Weaponizing in the Arsenal Fanbase
If you saw this game coming, we’d like to have a word with you. Arsenal have gone to King Power and put in a massive performance against a Leicester City squad who apparently have the best manager since Bertie Mee. Massive performances from Willian, Pepe, and other goofballs have the dream still alive for the Quadruple. We’ll review and put things in perspective with Eoin, Mike ,Tom Canton from @thegoonertalktv. and @colossalchig from Gooner Eagle Eye. We’ll also have a respectful debate about the recent hot topic of “freedom of expression” of opinions, whatever they may be, and how too often “Arsenal Twitter” spends more time weaponizing their opinions on fellow supporters than anything else. As our chat was “graced” by the presence of some lovely and friendly individuals at the hour mark, the very concept of the show (that Arsenal fans use their opinions to batter, not banter others) came to a real life outcome as people generally show their true colours in the end.
5.41: The Gooners Pod User Participation #LEIARS Post-Game Show | Willian D’Or | Arsenal 3-1 Leicester
Hey, we won! Mike opened up the airwaves to our users and was joined by Fredo, Rob Ford, Bulgarian Gooner Drago, and Sophie Nicolaou to celebrate an epic victory for the ages. Or, as we used to know it, beating a team we normally should beat!
