    Happy Hour #285: Courtney Reissig

    Happy Hour #285: Courtney Reissig

My guest for The Happy Hour # 285 is Courtney Reissig. Courtney is an author and Bible teacher living in Little Rock, Arkansas. She is the proud momma of four sons, and happy wife to Daniel. Her newest book, Teach Me To Feel: Worshiping Through the Psalms in Every Season of Life released this January.
On the show today Courtney shares her story of how God brought her to Him, and how each step of obedience deepened her faith and desire to be in God’s word. Courtney and I talk about the struggle when emotions feel so overpowering. We discuss how emotions are good and part of who we are, but Courtney reminds us they aren’t our truth. Courtney shares how she faced the fragility of life head on through the traumatic birth of her youngest son. Courtney is honest in describing how dark her world felt, and can still feel at times, but how God has brought healing, light, and the strength to hope even in the hardest of circumstances.

Your Last Decade #7: Kelly Stamps

Your Last Decade #7: Kelly Stamps

As we enter this new decade, I thought it would be fun to talk to a few friends and reflect back on what life was like 10 years ago. In these conversations, you’ll hear guests speak about what God has done in their life, dreams, goals, things they would have differently, and things they’re most proud of. And, looking back always causes me to look forward, so we’ll also chat about dreams for the next ten years!

I’m so happy to welcome Kelly Stamps to the show today! Kelly lives in northwest Arkansas and is a wife, momma, blogger, and matchmaker (yes, you read that right)! Kelly and I reflect back to 2010 when Kelly was transitioning from the workplace to being a stay at home mom. In this new rhythm of life, she began blogging as an outlet, and it opened doors to several things – including helping singles find each other! Kelly tells us she set up her first Single’s Day on a whim, and now it has become a part of her ministry she hosts every year! Kelly and I also talk about singleness and feeling seen and known by the church. I hope each one of us will remember Kelly’s encouragement that no matter our lane in life looks like, it’s important!

    Happy Hour #284: Cheryl Luke

    Happy Hour #284: Cheryl Luke

My guest for The Happy Hour # 284 is Cheryl Luke. Cheryl is a teacher and aspiring writer with over 35 years in ministry. Cheryl is committed to help people live with intention, embrace the story of your life, and connect with God, others, and your circumstances in a healthy manner.

**A note: early in our conversation, Cheryl speaks about the abuse she endured from her ex-husband. I recognize this topic could be a trigger for some of you, so please note that around minutes 10-11 she describes what happened that caused her to leave, and feel free to skip the first part of the show.
Today Cheryl and I talk about the changes that can happen when we identify and confess the issues we uniquely face each day. Whether it’s an addiction, being a fixer, needing control, lying, or any other challenge that takes you away from the truth of what God says, healing and freedom is possible. Through her work with Celebrate Recovery and using the Relate model, Cheryl shares the ways she has experienced healing in her own life, and how she’s witnessed it in others as well. Cheryl and I also chat about times of transition and leaving a legacy, and she even turns the tables and starts interviewing me!

Your Last Decade #6: Erin H. Moon

Today, I'm so happy to welcome Erin H. Moon to chat with us about her last decade. Erin is the COO of the Popcast Media group, the resident Bible scholar for the Bible Binge, a wife, and a momma.  Erin shares how in 2010 she was pregnant with her first baby and also struggling with feeling like "burnt bacon" with church. Erin talks about God sustaining her personal faith as she walked through this time of burn out, and how she ultimately found a nourishing church experience in a different denomination. You'll also get to hear how the last ten years brought about a career change she never could have imagined!

Happy Hour #283: Esther Fleece Allen

Happy Hour #283: Esther Fleece Allen

My guest for The Happy Hour # 283 is Esther Fleece Allen. Esther loves to connect people to practical, faith-centered tools for living through every season, good and bad. She’s the author of two books (Your New Name and No More Faking Fine), a graduate of the Oxford Centre for Christian Apologetics, and is currently in seminary. When she's not traveling to speak or teach, she enjoys making a home with her husband and children.
On the show today, Esther and I talk about releasing labels we attach to ourselves that aren’t rooted in our God-given identity. Esther explains how these false labels from our circumstances, the past, shame, or even labels others have given us can make us miss the truth of our identity. Esther shares her own experience fighting to stay in the faith and live in the name God has given her as she endured abuse, broken family relationships, and years of stalking from her father. I loved Esther’s message to embrace all seasons of life, including times of lament as well as celebration, and through all of it, we can take it to the Lord.

    Your Last Decade #5: "James"

    Your Last Decade #5: "James"

As we enter this new decade, I thought it would be fun to talk to a few friends and reflect back on what life was like 10 years ago. In these conversations, you’ll hear guests speak about what God has done in their life, dreams, goals, things they would have differently, and things they’re most proud of. And, looking back always causes me to look forward, so we’ll also chat about dreams for the next ten years!
Today, I am talking with "James" (a pseudonym), who shares his last decade which includes an amazing transformation of faith from atheist to being a devoted follower of Jesus. James' last decade found him living at his parents' home where he grew up with his mother secretly sharing the gospel with him for fear of retribution from his Hindu father. In 2010 James considered himself an atheist, and I know you'll be blown away as you hear James speak of how God pursued him, the miracles he witnessed in his mother's life, and the path he's on now as we enter 2020. I am so thankful for James' bravery in sharing his story, and I know you will be so encouraged by the show today!
