You'll then find a regular, chronological podcast, starting from from the end of Roman Britain. I’m a bloke in a shed, but I make sure this is good, properly prepared history, and then fill it with my enthusiasm. You’ll find the great events and people for sure – but also some of the byways, of how people lived, their language, and the forces that shaped their lives and destinies.

The history of England

The history of England- a thoroughly enjoyable tour!

I’ve listened to all the history of England podcasts- they’re great! David Crowther, who writes and reads the podcasts often makes the point that he’s not a professional historian, but he obviously knows his onions and he puts that knowledge to good use in producing a good-humoured and very listenable series.

The only slight criticism that I have of the podcasts is that sometimes they seem under-produced- often mistakes in the readings are left in- but that doesn’t detract from the quality of the material.

I’d recommend this podcast for anyone with an interest in history, and I’m certainly looking forward to progressing through the history of England with the podcast.
