    Footloose - 40th Anniversary Part 1 - With Special Guest, Kim Jensen Abunuwara ("Edna")

    On Episode 147 of the RETROZEST podcast, Curtis kicks off a celebration of the 40th Anniversary of the premiere of FOOTLOOSE! This film is a 1984 American musical drama directed by Herbert Ross. It tells the story of Ren McCormack (Kevin Bacon), a teenager from Chicago who moves to a small town, where he attempts to overturn the ban on dancing instituted by the efforts of Rev. Shaw Moore (John Lithgow), while entering into a romantic relationship with his daughter Ariel (Lori Singer).

    Assisting Curtis in this part 1 endeavor in an exclusive interview is DR. KIM JENSEN ABUNUWARA, the supporting actress who portrayed Ariel's friend Edna in the film. Kim also appeared on three episodes of Touched By An Angel, and in the films Shot in the Heart, Plainsong, and Fire Creek. She is currently an Associate Professor of Integrated Studies and Director of the Humanities Program at Utah Valley University. She was awarded Instructor of the Year (April 2010) by Trio Student Support Services at UVU, as well as the Award of Merit in Using Technology to Engage Distance Students (May 2008) from the Utah System of Higher Ed. Curtis and Kim had a great discussion about the making of the film, and how it is her first and biggest acting role.

    DIANE SHERRY CASE Interview - Superman The Movie - 45th Anniversary!

    On Episode 146 of the RETROZEST podcast, Curtis engages on a celebration of the 45th Anniversary of the premiere of SUPERMAN: THE MOVIE! This is a 1978 superhero film based on the DC Comics superhero Superman, played by Christopher Reeve. It is the first of four installments in the Superman film series starring Reeve as Superman. It was directed by Richard Donner based on a screenplay by Mario Puzo, David Newman, Leslie Newman, and Robert Benton. In addition to Reeve, the film features an ensemble cast including Marlon Brando, Gene Hackman, Jeff East, Margot Kidder, Glenn Ford, Phyllis Thaxter, Jackie Cooper, Trevor Howard, Marc McClure, Terence Stamp, Valerie Perrine, Ned Beatty, Jack O'Halloran, Maria Schell, and Sarah Douglas.

    Assisting Curtis in this endeavor with an exclusive interview is DIANE SHERRY CASE, the actress who portrayed Smallville cheerleader and Clark Kent's teen crush Lana Lang in the film. In addition to her role in Superman, Diane is known for her work on the films Hawaii (1966) and Pretty Maids All in a Row (1971). She also played Bing Crosby's daughter in the TV. series The Bing Crosby Show, and appeared in numerous other series, as well as two Superbowl commercials. More recently, Diane has published numerous short stories and authored two novels. With a grant from the American Film Institute, she wrote and directed two short films, Spa-tel and Valentine's Day. Her digital series House Poor, which she also wrote and directed, is a available on Amazon Prime.

    STU PHILLIPS Interview - Battlestar Galactica - 45th Anniversary - Part 5

    On Episode 144 of the RETROZEST podcast, Curtis continues and concludes a celebration the 45th Anniversary of the premiere of BATTLESTAR GALACTICA! This show is an American science fiction media franchise created by Glen A. Larson. It began with the original television series in 1978, and was followed by a short-run sequel series (Galactica 1980), a line of book adaptations, original novels, comic books, a board game, video games and a reboot series.

    Assisting Curtis in this endeavor with an exclusive interview is the composer and conductor of the score for BSG, STU PHILLIPS! Stu and Curtis had a great discussion about the music score for BSG, and the many other aspects of his long career.

    With Colpix Records, Stu produced high-charting hits for James Darren, Nina Simone, The Skyliners, Shelley Fabares, and The Monkees. He also furnished music for Columbia's television series, including The Donna Reed Show (with Fabares) and The Monkees. In the mid-1960s, he worked for Capitol Records and created, produced and arranged for the easy listening studio orchestra the Hollyridge Strings. In the late 1960s and early 1970s, Phillips continued scoring films and television series including music for the films Beyond the Valley of the Dolls (1970), The Seven Minutes (1971) and the television series Get Christie Love!. In 1974, he began working at Universal Studios scoring television series; Glen A. Larson made extensive use of his compositions. During this time, he scored music for the television series Switch, McCloud, The Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew Mysteries, Quincy M.E. and (of course) Battlestar Galactica. He also composed music for the television series The Amazing Spider-Man. After moving to 20th Century Fox Television, Stu composed music for The Fall Guy and Knight Rider.

    PAT BOONE Interview - Country Jubilee

    On Episode 143 of the RETROZEST podcast, Curtis speaks with the legendary singer, actor and composer, PAT BOONE! Pat was the second-biggest-charting artist of the late 1950s, behind only Elvis Presley, and was ranked at No. 9 in Billboard's listing of the Top 100 Top 40 Artists 1955–1995. Until the 2010s, he held the Billboard record for spending 220 consecutive weeks on the charts with one or more songs each week. He also holds the record for the most songs recorded by any recording artist.

    Pat and Curtis had a wonderful discussion about many things; including his role in the 1970 film Cross and the Switchblade, his 1997 album covering several heavy metal songs in a big band format, his corresponding appearance on the American Music Awards with Alice Cooper and Metallica, and other great moments from his long and varied career. He very recently released a new Country music album entitled Country Jubilee, wherein he returns to his country roots (and this album even features a cover of Crystal Gayle’s hit duet song, You and I, which Pat recorded with Crystal herself). Pat also talks about his most recent book, If: The Eternal Choice We Must All Make.

Additionally, Tim appeared in films like Star Trek: The Motion Picture, Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, Cheech and Chong's Next Movie, An Eye for an Eye and The Jerk; as well as TV shows like The Love Boat, WKRP in Cincinnati, Captain America (wherein he was a stunt double for Reb Brown) and Laverne & Shirley. In fact, speaking of Laverne & Shirley, his girlfriend for many years until her recent passing was Cindy Williams. At one point, he was also the tour manager for the late Jerry Lee Lewis., and was in a Schlitz Beer Commercial with Teri Garr.
