    • バックステージ

ROLL OUT for National Podcast Post Month Day 16! We travel back to the classic year 1984 when Seth, Uncle Greg, and special guest Jarret “Prime” Aubry discuss the Transformers phenomenon.

0:15 – 1984

Transformers hit the American market in the fall of 1984 in an unprecedented trifecta of toys, comics, and cartoons. While GoBots may have appeared first, Transformers quickly established themselves as the superior brand.

3:30 – Early Memories

Seth grew up in the Chicago suburbs, while Greg lived in Pittsburgh, and Jarret dwelled in Canada. However, all their memories are much the same when it comes to first toys and watching the cartoon after school.

7:30 – First Transformers

Seth: Windcharger

Jarret: Ratchet

Greg: Bombshell and Astrotrain

13:00 – Favorite Autobot and Decepticon

Seth: Jazz and Soundwave

Greg: Grimlock and Shockwave

Jarret: Optimus Prime/Omega Supreme/Metroplex and Starscream

23:30 – Generation 2

Other than Megatron being a tank, most of the toys were the same

27:30 – Beast Wars

The first major rebirth was in the 1990s with Beast Wars. This was also different in that it had a COMPETENT Megatron who had plans that actually worked from time to time.

30:00 – The Movie Soundtrack

Vince DiCola did the music for Transformers: The Movie as well as Rocky IV. Lion, who did the movie theme, also did a song for Friday The 13th Part IV.

33:30 – Later Comics and Animated Series

Transformers: Animated, Energon, Prime, and The Unicron Trilogy, all have their ups and downs.

40:25 – Bayformers

At this time, the Michael Bay Transformers movies were ruling the box office and trampling of canon.
