64: Robin Morselli, Background Actor & Stand-in for 120 Episodes of Star Trek

64: Robin Morselli, Background Actor & Stand-in for 120 Episodes of Star Trek

Trek Untold digs deep with this interview with a performer who hasn't told her story before anywhere.

Robin Morselli was a regular background actor and stand-in, most notably on DS9 as a Bajoran Ops officer (and occasional civilian, and there's a story about that), as well as appearing in episodes of TNG, Voyager, and Enterprise.

Robin talks to us about her long and winding road into Hollywood, which included a law degree, being a flight attendant, and working as a hostess at The Bunny Ranch. From there, we discuss some of her other notable roles in film & TV that you can't find on IMDB, and then it's all about Star Trek and her time on set.

We discuss how a performer is cast as an extra and what the process is to become a regular among that group, personal stories about her relationships with Nana Visitor, Levar Burton, and James Darren, memories from some specific episodes and moments on set like the DS9 finale and the Voyager episode "Tsunkatse" with The Rock, being a Klingon at the Billboard's Award show to perform a skit with Shaq, Scott Bakula's Christmas parties, and more. Robin also informs us about her Parkinson's diagnosis and how that has affected her life today, along with the activism and advocacy she does about this disease.

63: Walter Koenig Goes Beyond "Star Trek"

63: Walter Koenig Goes Beyond "Star Trek"

In the past, I've always said how excited I was to chat with an actor who appeared on the original Star Trek. But, this time around, it's not just any actor, but a key part of the bridge crew!

Walter Koenig was Ensign Pavel Chekov, who appeared in "Star Trek" starting in season 2 and continued to play the part through all of the TOS films and "Generations." As I learned in his new book, "Beaming Up and Getting Off: Life Before and Beyond Star Trek," Koenig struggled after the series ended and continued to feel resentment and frustration for a good part of his career due to the stigma of being in a sci-fi show. Today, Koenig understands who he is and what the character means to fans around the world as well as himself, and in this candid discussion, we talk all about that.

Hear some stories about Walter's time as the Russian ensign aboard the Enterprise, working with Mark Lenard on a stage show, thoughts on his action figures, some of the shows and films he has appeared in, and much more in this intimate and surprising chat that gets to the core of who Walter Koenig truly is.

62: Jason Marsden, Grimp from "Star Trek DS9"

62: Jason Marsden, Grimp from "Star Trek DS9"

Growing up, it wasn't unusual for me to hear the voice of Jason Marsden in something I watched. Whether he was off-screen performing VO in a cartoon or acting on-screen, Jason has an amazing career that started at a young age and continues today. Trekkies may remember Jason from his appearances as a Ferengi named Grimp in the "Star Trek DS9" episode "Bar Association," where he joined Rom's efforts to unionize the employees at Quark's bar. If you're like me, you noticed his voice in an episode of "Star Trek: The Next Generation," where he was the voice of Raymond Marr in "Silicon Avatar," a role he was not credited for (which Jason learned during this interview).

Jason has performed in over 200 shows and movies besides his time in Trek, and we discuss a few, including "A Goofy Movie," "Boy Meets World," "Hocus Pocus," "Static Shock," and the infamous "Cartoon All-Stars To The Rescue" just to name a few. Also, hear all about being a Ferengi and working with Max Grodenchik, Chase Masterson, Armin Shimerman, and a great story about Jeffrey Combs and many other great tales from a truly memorable career, one that filled me with nostalgia and joy!

61: Noah Averbach-Katz, Ryn from "Star Trek: Discovery"

61: Noah Averbach-Katz, Ryn from "Star Trek: Discovery"

Noah Averbach-Katz was the Andorian named Ryn from season three of "Star Trek: Discovery" and quickly became a fan-favorite character. Underneath that makeup was Noah Averbach-Katz, a legit hardcore Trekkie with a deep passion for the franchise that started as a child. He is also the significant other of Mary Wiseman, AKA Ensign Sylvia Tilly on DSC.

Noah discusses his background in acting and love for Star Trek, how he met his eventual wife at Julliard and what he did to help her prep for her Discovery audition, how he was cast in the show, what the arduous makeup process was like, and behind-the-scenes stories from the episodes he appeared in, including one from the episode he did that Jonathan Frakes directed. Plus, stories from other shows and plays Noah appeared in, running Dungeons & Dragons sessions for his fellow Star Trek cast members, addressing the trolls & haters who attack his wife, and much more in this interesting chat with everyone's favorite Andorian (not played by Jeffrey Combs, who we do also discuss of course)!

59: Richard Riehle talks Star Trek TNG, VOY & ENT

59: Richard Riehle talks Star Trek TNG, VOY & ENT

Richard Riehle is a character actor whose face you have seen on stage, television, and film since the 1970s, with a grand total of 400 on-screen credits – a number that continues to rise every year! You may remember him as Batai from the Star Trek TNG classic "The Inner Light," as Seamus from "Fair Haven" and "Spirit Folk" on Star Trek Voyager, and as Dr. Lucas in the Augment arc from Star Trek Enterprise, "Cold Station 12" and "The Augments."

We spend some time discussing working with Patrick Stewart in one of the most beloved episodes of TNG and why his signature mustache was nowhere to be seen, memories of Robert Duncan McNeill, Ian Abercrombie, Fintan McKeown, and more from his time in the holographic Irish village of Fair Haven, and being beat up by Brent Spiner (in the show, of course).

Plus, working with Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci in "Casino," Harrison Ford in "The Fugitive," Scott Bakula on "Quantum Leap," memories of Angela Lansbury, "Office Space," "Grounded for Life," "The Golden Girls," "Free Willy," "The Legend of Korra" and much more from this very prolific performer!
