    Trippycal Situations

    Trippycal Situations

For this seventh show on Radio Primavera, we go trippy and tropical. It starts with an exquisite calypso from Trinidad, released in the 60s and kinda nasty, then maloya with keys, from Mauritius Island, a deep reggae instrumental, afro percussion with a twist, gwo ka with synthesizer, afro funk, afro cosmic and electroid afro disco, ending with a tempo for a hot dance floor. A journey that will put you in a "trippycal situation".

    From Motown To Kingston

    From Motown To Kingston

For my sixth show on Radio Primavera, I’ll link two of my old loves : Motown and reggae. Of course the field has already been explored but I’ll add my own touch, going further than the classic releases from Trojan (I'll include some of them, of course, because I can’t forget them). There will be rocksteady, reggae-soul, dub, and even a surprising digi reggae disco song, sung out of the tune. Then you understand how Smokey Robinson, Norman Whitfield or Holland-Dozier-Holland also had a huge impact on the Jamaican production. Ah yes, I’ve maybe put too much of The Tempts, but hey I liked them a lot.
Prince Buster - My GirlByron Lee - Message From a Black ManThe Heptones - My World Is Empty Without YouDerrick Harriott - You Really Got a Hold on MeThe Uniques - The Love I Saw in You (Just a Mirage)Delroy Wilson - This Old Heart of MineNorman Brown - Just My ImaginationThe Techniques - I Wish It Would RainBig Youth - What’s Going OnEric Donaldson - The Way You Do the Things You DoCarl Dawkins - Cloud NineDave Barker - I Can’t Get Next to YouLloyd Parks - Stop the War, NowThe Tamlins - Smiling Faces SometimesMatumbi - Law of the LandDelroy Wilson - Inner City BluesThe Pioneers - Papa Was a Rolling StoneCarol Cool - Upside DownLloyd Charmers - Let’s Get It On
