    What is leadership development?
Well, we all have our own ideas, but when done right, it's about being intentional and deliberate. With us today is Diane Egbers. She's pretty much our resident leadership guru here on the podcast. And she heads up a company called Leadership Excelleration.

How Career Centers Can Form Partnerships With The Business Community

How Career Centers Can Form Partnerships With The Business Community

We welcome Superintendent Rick Smith of the Ohio Hi-Point Career Center, which is in Bellefontaine, Ohio, northwest of Columbus, Ohio.
We talk about the importance of working with the business industry to form effective partnerships. This is definitely something that's taking on a life of its own. A lot of businesses are looking for workers. We've covered that extensively in our podcasts, but particularly here, we focus on building partnerships.
Businesses are now coming to schools, career centers, vocational education, saying "We need workers. We want to help you help you train our future workers, what can we do to give you the tools so we can get a workforce."
As much as we talk about jobs and the economy, the bottom line here is it still many jobs are left unfilled because businesses cannot find workers who have the skills necessary.

In this episode we interview Superintendent Dennis Blatt of the Washington County Career Center, located in Marietta, Ohio.
What we talk about is something of an unusual subject, but we  think a necessary one. That is work ethic, and the value of work ethic. Employers are putting a premium on this. What Do Parents Need To Know About Career Technical Education?

What Do Parents Need To Know About Career Technical Education?

In this episode, we interview Greg Edinger, Superintendent of the Vanguard Sentinel Career and Technology Center, based in Fremont, Ohio, which is in Northwest Ohio.
Today's topic is "What do parents need to know about career technical education?"
Career tech is not what it used to be. It is something that has really taken off and for good reason. College costs are soaring. And students need alternatives to meaningful career options. And career tech is definitely the way to go in this new era of information technology, and technology in general.
It's a real alternative to the thousands upon hundreds of thousands of dollars that students are committing to go to college, without not understanding or not sure what where they want to go.
One of the things we need to do a better job is continuing to talk about how great career tech is. It really is a wonderful option for students as they want to continue to look at how they want to pursue their careers and how they want to go about it in a thoughtful and cost effective way.

Part 3 - Being an Agile Leader with Diane Egbers

Today's an exciting episode as it marks the last installment of the Agile leadership series with Diane Egbers with Leadership Excelleration: Organizational Leadership Consulting.
In the two previous podcasts, we talked about the important components of Agile Leadership, which are Adventure and Empower. In this episode, we wrap things up with Orchestrate.
What I especially like about our discussion in the episode with Diane is that there is a clear place and value for everyone in the organization in moving objectives forward.
Diane always offer such cutting edge insight on leadership and leadership development. And you can go to Leadership Excelleration website to get started with the Agile Leader inventory

Authentic Leadership - Meet Your Community Where They Are

Authentic Leadership - Meet Your Community Where They Are

It is great to have Tom Bailey, Superintendent of the Washington Court House (OH) Schools, on the podcast today.
He's a repeat guest and he brings so much energy, creativity and care to what he does in his school district and community. He talks about how to lead authentically, what that means. And he talks about how good it is for the community.
Schools have to be active participants in their communities, and vice versa. Tom and his work in the Washington Court House community is a great example of this.
