#2: Maintaining Parallel Careers The Teaching Artist

    • Education

Episode two, “Maintaining Parallel Careers” was inspired by everyday conversations with fellow teaching artists. By experience, we have often had to make decisions on where are we going to spend our resources. Do we professionally pursue opportunities to showcase our art or do we commit to a teaching residency? Often we strive do both, but there always seems like a sacrifice or missed opportunity in the other field. We wanted to know more about those struggles from working teaching artists, and their strategies to making their parallel careers worth for them. Special thanks to Annalisa Ledson, Elizabeth Leonard, Megan MacPhee, and Colleen Pictor for sharing their stories. Incidental music for this episode is titled “Black Girl Magic” sung and composed by Teaching Artist, Ms. Dale Novella Anderson.
