Taco truck talk, the James Beard Awards and 'Top Chef'
While the first food truck was likely a chuck wagon or perhaps the Wienermobile, you could argue that it didn’t reach its ideal form until tacos got involved. We’ve got plenty of that variety around Milwaukee, all of which you can follow on social media to keep up with their whereabouts.
Ann and Tarik talk about a few of their favorites at the top of this episode, and you can find more in the taco truck guide in the latest issue of Milwaukee Magazine. Also in this episode, you'll hear a Dan-heavy roundup of other culinary news around Milwaukee:
First up, the James Beard Awards were finally handed out earlier this week, and sadly neither Dan Jacobs nor Dan Van Rite went home with hardware.Dan Jacobs did, however, make it to Top Chef’s first finale episode (feels like that shouldn’t be a thing), which left Wisconsin for sunny Curaçao.And if that doesn’t have you Dan’d out, Mr. Jacobs also landed the cover story for the June edition of Milwaukee Magazine. In non-Dan news, the Wolf on Broadway has decided to rebrand and become Uncle Wolfie’s Dinner Diner.

Dog menus, Dumpling Fest and even more 'Top Chef'
Because dogs are great, most Milwaukee’s eateries are more than happy to cater to canines — usually with a bowl of water or a couple treats. But a few have really stepped it up with proper dog-specific menu items or, in the case of this episode’s lead item, entire dog menus.
We also cover the rest of the city's culinary scene, including a couple unfortunate closings, even more Top Chef, the return of Dumping Fest and the debut of ... VeganMania?

Dining with dad, resurrected pizzerias and "The Milwaukee Cookbook"
We're covering a lot of ground on this episode, starting with where to take your pop for Father's Day food. There's also the revival of two revered pizza places, a new Japanese restaurant in Bay View, a very Milwaukee cookbook and, of course, lively conversation about the latest Top Chef and the great fish boil debate it sparks.

A food tour of West Allis, Yemeni coffee and ... the Taj Mahal?
Tarik and Ann take you out to all kinds of cool spots and highlight some interesting events, like a food tour of West Allis, including butcheries and vintage-styled burger joints. Other highlights include Junior's BBQ, Yemeni cafes, Indian food in Hales Corners and Honeypie's celebration of 15 years in Bay View.

A Soul Food Tour, a change to North Avenue Market and a SAD bakery
Tarik and Ann cover a lot of ground in this one. Yes, Top Chef gets another recap, but then they dip in Midwest SAD Bakery and their strawberry champagn cake, and Tarik's quest for the perfect strawberry. Plus, we've got details on an open house at Noth Avenue Market, as well as SHARP Literacy's Unwrapped MKE event that turns Mickey D's into something delicious.
