In Search for Serenity Apo's Sonic Journeys

    • Music

Еxactly 10 years ago, a friend introduced me to the Native American concept of wishing trees where the wind would carry your wish around the world and take it back to you. She gave me a blue piece of cloth which I had to tie to a tall tree branch and told me to write the first thing that comes to mind, and I wish for. Sitting on a bench in a park in Plovdiv, I wrote "Serenity." Serenity for the state of mind regardless of the surrounding chaos. Little did my younger self know that I would begin experimenting with different methods to ease my mind and search for serenity during the following years. Having a restless, analytical mind has been a blessing and a curse. It helped me filter out the noise and taught me that I need to throw the challenge at it and persevere if I want to achieve something. Being restless also means that it has been almost impossible for me to wind down for the last couple of years. There is no off switch. It is a downward spiral you do not want to be on. Since the pandemic's beginning, it became apparent that the most effective way for me to enter a state of serenity is when I get behind the decks, put the headphones on, turn up the volume, and press play. The world disappears, and I am left with counting beats, syncing rhythms, blending melodies, and layering vocals while dancing ecstatically. I want to share this with you and the sound that has defined my musical taste for 15 years. Welcome to In Search for Serenity.
