An Empowering Conversation with Holistic OBGYN Dr. Nathan Riley

An Empowering Conversation with Holistic OBGYN Dr. Nathan Riley

Nathan Riley, MD, is a board-certified OBGYN and hospice and palliative care physician. Through his holistic OBGYN practice, Beloved Holistics, PCA, he serves women and their families who are dissatisfied with the conventional medical model. He also has a collaborator program for coaches and alternative health practitioners to provide easy, affordable access to an MD consultant on women’s health and primary care issues. He specializes in fertility, pelvic pain, home birth, and health optimization at all stages of life, from birth to death, working with nature rather than against Her. He is a staunch advocate for medical freedom and personal responsibility, and his podcast is called The Holistic OBGYN.

It’s so rare to meet a gynecologist speaking the same language as myself and others in the holistic women’s health space, and I’ve been really looking forward to this conversation. In this episode, we talk about why Nathan felt called to shift to holistic practice, the problems with the conventional medical model, shocking statistics on pregnancy and birth interventions, modern-day witch hunts, how you can become your best healthcare advocate, and so much more!

How a Tongue Tie May be Behind Your Chronic Health Problems with Dr. Michael Geis

How a Tongue Tie May be Behind Your Chronic Health Problems with Dr. Michael Geis

Dr. Michael Geis is a traditional Osteopathic Physician specializing in Neuromuscular Medicine (NMM) and Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine (OMM). Dr. Geis' residency training sets him apart from many other practitioners, and his private practice focuses on treating complex chronic pain, musculoskeletal and sports-related injuries, with a specific practice focus on sleep-disordered breathing, airway, and dental health.

Dr. Geis is my osteopathic physician, and I’ve been working with him in conjunction with a dentist and myofunctional therapist as I’ve gone through my whole tongue and lip tie journey. I wanted to bring him on the podcast to clear up all the misinformation floating around about oral restrictions.

In this episode, we talk about how much oral ties impact our overall health, his experience with having a tie and his children having ties, what he’s noticed as an osteopath with some patients not getting better, what to look for when you’re choosing a support team, how to prepare properly before a release surgery, and so much more. I hope you enjoy the episode!

The Connection Between Myofunctional Disorders and Hormonal Health with Sara Mercier

Sara Mercier is a Certified Myofunctional Airway Specialist and has been practicing dental hygiene since 2014. Since being introduced to the world of myofunctional therapy and airway medicine, she’s changed her outlook on dentistry and what she could contribute to the field. As a myofunctional orthodontic patient herself from the age of 10, Sara has a particular passion for exploring how myofunctional disorders affect sleep, hormones, and autoimmune diseases such as polycystic ovarian syndrome.

This episode was inspired by the journey I’ve been on to address my tongue and lip ties. I’ve gotten a lot of pushback since sharing my story, and I feel like I’ve stumbled upon an entire subculture of dental and oral health that most people are unaware of!

In this episode, we talk about why so many dental professionals don’t understand the effects of tongue and lip ties, why Sara is so passionate about myofunctional therapy for adults, the most important questions to ask potential practitioners, common orofacial myofunctional disorders, the benefits of myofunctional therapy, the connection between tongue ties and hormone imbalances, why your tongue affects the rest of your body, and so much more!
