3 Tactics Some Flippa Sellers Use To Pump and Dump Websites on Newbie Buyers

3 Tactics Some Flippa Sellers Use To Pump and Dump Websites on Newbie Buyers

Hey everybody, thanks for checking out today's podcast on some of the most common tactics that Flippa Sellers use to pump up the value of their websites before dumping them on to newbie buyers who don't have the experience yet to discern those tactics. I want to preface that I do not think all Flippa Sellers are trying to dupe new buyers but I will say that there are some sellers on Flippa who are. I felt like I had to make this podcast after the terrible experience I had with Flippa.com, after sharing my website worth it series with the community there.

If you haven't been following along since my first website worth it series, then you most likely don't know that my official 1000 Red Gates account was banned from Flippa.com. Flippa will tell you that my account was banned because I broke one of their policies, which is self promotion, and there is truth in that. But what Flippa will not tell you is what they told me by email, which is that we do not share mutual interests and that is why they will not ever reinstate my account going forward, even though self promotion that I did typically receives a one month ban.

Some of the buyers are now my clients and I am professionally helping them find a Flippa website to buy that fits their budget, time commitments, and skill set. I charge a flat rate of $100/month and a 2.5% acquisition fee of the website’s sale. It's exactly what Flippa chargers for their Flippa Finder service, except I don't work for Flippa in any way and have no additional incentives to point buyers at a site that isn't a great fit for them. If you're interested in hiring me to help you source a Flippa website to buy, just comment below or send me an inbox message on YouTube or a voice message on anchor podcast.

Now with that out of the way, let's jump right into 3 tactics that Flippa.com sellers use to pump up the value of their site before dumping them off onto a newbie buyer.

Tactic number one that some flippa.com sellers use to pump up the value of their website is by pumping up the number of their backlinks, which increases the search engine result page position rank of their website, thus increasing their organic traffic from search engines. From a technical aspect there actually isn’t anything wrong with this. Increasing the number of backlinks pointing to a page on your website in order to increase its domain and page authority for the purpose of achieving a higher search engine result page position is a solid search engine optimization strategy. In addition, backlinks are one of the three most important search engine ranking factors. The issue is with some Flippa Sellers is how and where they get those backlinks from.

Tactic number 2 that some flippa.com sellers use to pump up the value of their website is called Brand Baiting. Brand baiting is when a flippa seller makes a website closely imitating another brand that doesn’t have a website, that is typically a brick and mortar business, and that is in a different country than the flippa seller is in.

Tactic number 3 that some flippa.com sellers use to pump up the value of their website is concealing their Google Analytics data. What some flippa sellers will do on their flippa seller page is not verify their Google Analytics, or if they have it verified they will only showcase the last quarter or last few months of activity. They do this to cover up their pump and dump tactics.

Facebook Viral Unicorn Shopify Website Making $75,000/year?! | Website Worth It Series | Episode 2

Facebook Viral Unicorn Shopify Website Making $75,000/year?! | Website Worth It Series | Episode 2

Podcast Introduction: Hello, thanks for listening to 1000 Red Gates Digital Marketing. I’m a Digital Marketing Manager with over 10 years of marketing experience who has worked for clients such as Nike, Air Jordan, and Adidas.

I decided to start this channel after a childhood friend asked me for professional advice on what kind of marketing strategy he should implement for growing traffic to a website he purchased from a marketplace made for buying and selling online businesses. As a first time buyer of an online business, my friend had little to no experience when it comes to generating traffic to a website and so I helped him develop a marketing strategy that increased his website traffic and generated him $300,000 in online sales.

After the experience I found that there were a lot of people buying websites from these online business marketplaces and the majority also needed help with developing digital marketing strategies. The sellers of these online businesses typically provide little to no information regarding on how they handle the digital marketing strategies for the website. In addition, when asked on how the new buyer could grow the business, the buyers simply say, “get more traffic.”

I launched this channel with the mission of helping future buyers of online businesses learn general digital marketing strategies to grow their future online businesses. The way I do this is buy doing a deep dive into for sale online business, analyzing its digital marketing potential against its competitors and providing real strategies on how to grow its traffic. The different topics I will cover while doing my online business deep dives will be SEO(Search Engine Optimization), SEM(Search Engine Marketing), Content Marketing, ReMarketing, Responsive Web Design, Email Marketing, Social Media Marketing, Marketing Automation, eCommerce Marketing, Video, Shopify, Flippa.com, Making Money Online, and Dropshipping.

I do not claim to be the foremost expert on Digital Marketing but I have gained a lot of success in my career using Digital Marketing skills and have made a lot of money for my clients using my Digital Marketing skills.

Thank you for watching, I appreciate everyone who have subscribed and commented. Please feel free to message me with any questions or podcast suggestions you may have and I will do my best to follow up.

All Bark But No Bite?! $30,000 Online Dog eCommerce Store | Buyer Beware Series | Episode 2

All Bark But No Bite?! $30,000 Online Dog eCommerce Store | Buyer Beware Series | Episode 2

Hey everyone, today is Wednesday, December 4th and I wanted to personally thank you for watching the second episode of the “Website Buyer Beware” Series. In this series we will look at websites for sale on online business website marketplaces like Flippa and Empire Flippers. For a lot of first time entrepreneurs, the idea of making money online is one of the most alluring ways to achieving financial independence. During their initial research for making money online, entrepreneurs inevitably come across ideas like Dropshipping, retail arbitrage, Ecommerce, and amazon fba. Digging deeper they come across platforms like shopify, woocommerce, and aliexpress. Things start to get heavier when they realize they need to learn about the complexities of digital marketing and website like search engine optimization, conversion optimization, organic keywords, backlinks, and content generation. With all this front loaded and upfront work, first time entrepreneurs turn to a out-of-the-box solution for earning money online, buying websites for sale on online business marketplaces like Flippa and Empire Flippers.   These buy and sell websites platforms are a great way to see what’s available for sale on the market and to get yourself acquainted with the different types of online businesses like Starter sites, eCommerce sites, Content/Ads sites, and SaaS sites. Some of the major difficulties lying in wait for a first time entrepreneur interested in buying a website are assessing the online businesses’ value and identifying opportunities for growth.   The “Website Buyer Beware” Series was created as a sister-series to the "Website Worth It" Series which was initially created to help first time entrepreneurs figure out if a website is worth it and what they can immediately do after buying a website to grow its traffic and in turn, its revenue. To contrast that original series, the "Website Buyer Beware" Series was created to tell you which websites to avoid buying because they showed the characteristics that are closely related to websites that are not as valuable as they claim.   If this sounds interesting to you, stick around and see how by using a few digital marketing analysis tools and some close observation, you will be able to buy a website online and grow it’s revenue.
