Illumine with Sanne Kortooms | Episode 9 Illumine

    • Arts

This show is produced by Sarah Shedd and Sophie Kohn. Each week we sit down with filmmakers, writers, musicians, fine-artists, and healers to share stories and answer the why behind creativity itself. We’ll discuss the context of a project, a dream, or a mission and get to its core — we will see why and how each core shines. we invite you to open your minds, and your hearts, to greater luminosity. This week I’m chatting with one Sophie’s dear friends Sanne Kortooms
Sanne is a Dutch director, screenwriter and filmmaker based in Amsterdam. She is known for her black comedy To Catch a Fly (2017) for which she received five "Best Director of a Short Film" awards. And in 2021 she was named one of the winners at the New York Film + TV Festival with the film installation “Not Everything Is What It Seems.” In all her work, either fiction or documentary, Sanne always tries to focus on people and their personal story or psyche. It is her goal to let her viewers fully immerse in a world they (might) have never experienced before and make them wonder about themselves and the world we live in.
